Beijing, August 11th (Xinhua) - According to statistics and reports from various regions, 42600 new urban and old residential areas were renovated in the first half of the year nationwide, benefiting 7.42 million households, with a construction rate of 80.4% based on the number of residential areas. By province, the operating rates in 11 provinces, including Guizhou, Hebei, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hunan, Shandong, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia, have reached 95% or above. It is reported that this year, there are plans to start renovating 53000 old urban communities nationwide, benefiting 8.65 million households.
The renovation of old residential areas is an important task to enhance the sense of gain for the public and also an important part of implementing urban renewal actions. Data shows that from 2019 to 2022, a total of 167000 new urban and old residential areas were renovated nationwide, benefiting over 29 million households and completing an investment of over 660 billion yuan. During the renovation process in various regions, over 200000 kilometers of old pipelines such as water, electricity, and heat have been renovated and upgraded, 70000 elevators have been installed, 2.4 million parking spaces have been added and upgraded, and over 40000 community service facilities such as elderly care and childcare have been added.
