On June 14th, China did a big thing.

It is indeed a big deal. After looking at the statistical data, nearly 100 countries and regions, including international organizations such as the United Nations, have a total of more than 300 guests attending, and there are more than 20 guests at the deputy ministerial level or above from the foreign side.

They all come to Beijing to participate in a forum - the Global High end Forum on Human Rights Governance.

I feel like the world is also shining in front of me.

We don't have to avoid it either. For a considerable period of time in the past, human rights were the leverage of the West, and many developing countries, including China, were relatively passive, with an awkward situation of being scolded and difficult to fight back.

But now, everything seems to be reversed, with China actively hosting and guests from all over the world discussing human rights and human rights protection.

There are three organizers of this forum: the State Council Information Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Administration for International Development and Cooperation. The theme is also very interesting: "Equality, cooperation, development: the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action and global human rights governance.".

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary, the West believes that we will avoid discussing, but we tend to talk loudly and invite the whole world to come and discuss what to do.

The Chinese leader sent a congratulatory letter, saying, "Currently, humanity is once again standing at a crossroads in history, and global human rights governance is facing severe challenges." He then put forward rich Chinese propositions and solutions.

At this forum, Fu Hua, the president of Xinhua News Agency, said frankly: "Human rights have become the achievement and symbol of human civilization and progress. Respect and protection of human rights is the basic spirit of modern civilization and the unremitting pursuit of the CPC."

What is the art of struggle?

This is the art of struggle.

The forum is very lively. I saw that Bo Jia, the Director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for hosting this forum on behalf of the Office.

More importantly, such a forum has indeed sparked a strong resonance.

What is human rights?

In the eyes of 100 people, there may be 100 human rights concepts. But one thing is clear: for many countries, human rights are first and foremost the right to survival and development.

Without survival, where is human rights?

Without development, what are human rights?

Without comparison, progress cannot be seen. The forums held in China, especially China's tremendous achievements in poverty alleviation, have left foreign guests deeply moved.

Antigua's Foreign Minister Green exclaimed that China's people-oriented human rights management method has already demonstrated the fact that the people are everything about human rights. Through effective civil and political consultation, the people are encouraged to become the masters of their own destiny.

Abahize, Vice Chairman and Rapporteur of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, said: China has contributed 70% of its efforts to the global poverty reduction goal and ended extreme poverty 10 years ahead of schedule. This is not only a major achievement for China as a country, but also a major victory for the entire human race.

Why can China?

The answer from Professor Zhang Weiwei, Dean of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at Fudan University, is: because the United States has never considered poverty eradication to be a human rights issue, Europe at most regards poverty eradication as an obstacle to the enjoyment of human rights. China politically recognizes that poverty eradication is not only a human right, but also a core human right, and has put it into firm and extensive practice. Therefore, China is at the forefront of poverty eradication in the world, which is a huge inspiration and inspiration for developing countries.

In his view, China's concept of "putting people's livelihoods first" has corrected a long-standing deviation in the Western concept of human rights governance, which only values the political rights of citizens and neglects the rights to people's livelihoods and development.

He exclaimed even more: The United States spent $2.3 trillion in the war in Afghanistan, resulting in human rights violations. However, China used about one tenth of the money spent in the war to eliminate poverty for 100 million people. What qualification does the United States have to speak of human rights?

Former Swiss military officer and sinologist Peter He stated that despite commitments from various countries to strengthen cooperation and common development, there are still some hegemonic countries that pursue their goals recklessly, disregarding the interests of other countries.

Ugandan Human Rights Commission member Kahlu said that today's world is full of tension, conflict, manipulation, and uncertainty, and hegemonic practices, means, and behaviors occupy a prominent position on the global stage.

How is it going?

It has to be said that the eyes of the people of the world are bright.

This forum left a deep impression on me, as well as the speech of Mr. Kuhn from the United States.

He said frankly that some Chinese friends would ask, "Why does the world misunderstand the CPC?" His answer was: This is a semantic problem to some extent.

Because the meaning of the English word "party" is "a political party competing in free and open multi-party elections.". Therefore, in the eyes of many Westerners, when the ruling party does not participate in free and open multi-party elections, this political system is considered undemocratic.

However, in Kuhn's view, the above description does not accurately reflect the characteristics of the Chinese system. In the Western system, political parties only represent a specific group of voters and are limited by the time of the election cycle; However, the CPC is composed of people from all walks of life who are full of dedication, accounting for less than 7% of the population, but shouldering the mission of representing all the people.

There is one thing that particularly impresses Kuhn.

Now, Chinese leaders have set a longer-term goal - to achieve common prosperity.

Foreigners speak passionately, and we are also deeply moved by what they say.

Lastly, let me share three personal opinions.

Firstly, we must face human rights squarely.

Indeed, human rights are not a patent of the West, they should be a common right of all humanity. To be frank, every country, including China, may still have some shortcomings in human rights.

Other countries do not care, but for us, we still need to face it head-on, learn from each other's strengths and make up for each other's weaknesses, and make improvements if there are any, and encourage others if there are none.

The more we avoid this issue, the more demonized the West will be, and the more passive we will be.

On human rights issues, there is no best, only better. Continuously making progress will make us more proactive, and we should also have this full confidence.

Secondly, we must still be good at struggle.

To be honest, in the current complex world, it is difficult to dare to fight, but even more difficult to be good at fighting.

But this is a time of testing one's level and ability.

The field of human rights is very sensitive and an important tool for the West to smear us, but it is precisely us who have made stunning progress in human rights, especially the historic achievement of poverty alleviation. This has amazed the whole world.

What is moral governance?

I always feel that this is the greatest virtue!

We should speak frankly and tell the story of China well through various means, so that the world can see the progress of our human rights and counter the false accusations of certain people.

Thirdly, we must have the courage to innovate.

This is closely related to being good at fighting. Without innovation, there will be no highlights. Innovation in form, sometimes also innovation. So at this milestone 30 years after the Vienna Declaration, a high-end forum on global human rights governance was held in Beijing, which impressed the world.

We need to take action like this, design a good topic, and let the world see how China is doing and what the West is doing?

Another characteristic of this forum is that it allows foreign friends to boldly speak about their understanding and recognition of human rights, talk about the progress and challenges of human rights in their countries, and also share their views and suggestions on human rights in China.

More importantly, this third-party perspective allows the world to see our progress. Of course, there are also some of our shortcomings, and what other contributions can we make to the world?
