According to Agence France Presse, a Russian private security company announced on July 16th that hundreds of "experienced" Wagner Group fighters have arrived in the Central African Republic to provide security services for the referendum held on July 30th.
The report stated that the mercenaries of the Wagner Group had previously been assisting the Central African Republic government in combating rebels.
According to the report, a company affiliated with Wagner Group issued a statement on the "Telegraph" social media platform, stating: "Another plane carrying instructors who will work in the Central African Republic has arrived in Bangui."
The statement stated, "The planned rotation will continue. Hundreds of experienced professionals from Wagner Group will join the team working in the Central African Republic."
The statement also stated, "Russian instructors will continue to assist soldiers of the Central African Republic Armed Forces in ensuring the safety of the constitutional referendum to be held on July 30th."
The report points out that in recent weeks, some foreign sources have said that Wagner Group fighters are leaving the Central African Republic, and the government has denied this claim.
According to reports, the fate of this private paramilitary organization has been in an uncertain state since the attempted mutiny launched by the founder of Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigoren, on June 23-24.
Russian President Putin recently stated in an interview with the Russian newspaper Businessman that Russia does not have a private military organization law, which means that such companies, including the Wagner Group, do not legally exist.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced on July 14th that fighters from the Wagner Group have begun serving as "instructors" for the Belarusian territorial defense forces.
