How was K396 rescued?, Trapped for two days and two nights with rainfall | Passengers | K396
Affected by the 5th typhoon of this year, Dussuri, the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region continues to experience heavy rainfall. On July 30th, due to heavy rainfall, the K396 passenger train from Wuhai West, Inner Mongolia to Fengtai, Beijing was forced to stop at Luopoling Railway Station in Mentougou District, Beijing.
The safety of over 900 passengers is touching the hearts of countless people.
This morning, good news came that the first batch of 328 passengers have safely arrived at Fengtai Station in Beijing. At around 4:30 pm, the second batch of nearly 500 passengers also safely arrived at Beijing Fengtai Station.
01 Trapped: the train was stopped in an emergency during a rainstorm
According to the original plan, train K396 should depart from Wuhai West Station in the evening of July 29th and arrive at Fengtai Station in the morning of July 30th.

However, a sudden heavy rainstorm stranded the train at Luopoling Station, which is less than 70 kilometers away from Fengtai Station. At 12:50 noon on July 30th, K396 had already been delayed for several hours due to stop and go.
At 14:57 on July 30th, Ma Ruixin, the station master of Luopoling Station, received a message from Yang Long, the conductor of K396 train, requesting material support. He immediately contacted the village snack shop and led the staff to deliver the first batch of supplies -20 boxes of instant noodles - in the rain.
The food was consumed rapidly, and Ma Ruixin soon received news of an urgent need for supplies. This time, they urgently prepared 13 types of supplies such as instant noodles and ham sausages from a village several miles away.
Due to blocked roads, all supplies can only be delivered by walking through muddy terrain with difficulty.
These supplies were given priority to the children and elderly in the car. Mr. Feng, a passenger, recalled that on the K396 train, children and elderly people not only received food first, but also received more in quantity, and also gave some extra instant noodles.

On the morning of July 31st, passengers gradually gathered towards the dining car, and many passengers were emotional. Train conductor Yang Long led the crew to distribute supplies while comforting the passengers. Train attendant Zhao Yang choked up and shouted, "Everyone, please don't crowd or cause any danger. It's because I'm wearing this outfit that I have to live up to everyone."
02 Transfer: Nearby villagers share their household supplies
At noon on July 31st, the signal was interrupted and the roadbed erosion became more severe. The railway department has decided to transfer all passengers to a safe location for refuge.
One hour later, more than 700 people were arranged by station staff and the Luopo Ridge Community Neighborhood Committee to rest at the community square, railway engineering area, and residents' homes. Another group of over 200 people rested in the train carriages parked at the station.
Ms. Li, a trapped passenger, said that the Luopo Ridge community, where the passengers were placed, had taken out all emergency supplies and mobilized villagers to share their food. "Some of the cucumbers and flour we planted were used," she said.

Mr. Zhao, a passenger, said, "There are many people taking care of the children, giving them several rounds of meals and even distributing cookies and sugar specifically."
On the afternoon of August 1st, ground rescue personnel arrived. Several rescue personnel from the Beijing Municipal Fire Rescue Brigade found the train along the railway tracks and contacted the outside world through satellite phone.
Subsequently, 40 assault personnel from the Mobile Third Brigade of the Beijing Armed Police Force arrived at the Luopo Ridge Station on foot after 4 hours, delivering the first batch of rescue supplies to passengers on the K396 train. That night, 500 armed police soldiers arrived with food, clothing, and medicine for reinforcements.

On the early morning of August 2nd, the first batch of 328 passengers began to transfer to the foot of the mountain and arrived at Xiehejian Station before dawn. They took a shuttle train to Fengtai Station in Beijing.
Ms. Guan's parents are in their 50s and are also stranded passengers. According to the introduction, passengers evacuated outside the mountain using a "one-on-one" escort, with each passenger escorted forward by a rescue worker. "My parents said they had worn out their shoes when they came back," they said

Ms. Li, a family member of another trapped passenger, explained that the journey out of poverty was a total of 15 kilometers, as the passengers were still carrying luggage and the journey was very difficult. "My mother said she is very grateful to these children who served in the military. They carried such a heavy load and helped my mother walk down, leaving her feet soaking white. With them, my mother and her friends were able to come out."
