"The Daqing River is one of the 'main battlefields' for flood prevention and control in Tianjin. Zhang Chongming, Senior Engineer of the Jinghai District Water Bureau in Tianjin, said that it is expected that an additional 300 to 350 million cubic meters of flood will enter the Dongdian Flood Storage and Detention Area in the next 7 days. "It is expected that the head section of the Daqing River will remain at high water level for 8 to 12 days, after which the flood will slowly decrease and may take about two months to clear."

To ensure the safe discharge of floods into the sea, Tianjin strictly implements a four level inspection mechanism. Zhang Songtao, Director of the Duliujian River Flood Control Sluice Management Office of the Haihe River Downstream Management Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources, said that the water system in the Haihe River Basin is distributed in a fan-shaped pattern from south to north, with characteristics such as dispersed secondary water systems, complex river systems, numerous tributaries, short transition zones, and short source and rapid flow. The Duliujian River floodgate, known as the "Three River Lock Key", is an important flood control project in the central part of the Haihe River Basin's Daqing River system and also the first control project of the Duliujian River. Its designed flow rate is 3600 cubic meters per second.

"The floodgate discharges the floodwaters of the Daqing River system through the Duliujian River, which flows into the sea. It is the 'south gate' of Tianjin's urban flood control, and its geographical location is very important," explained Zhang Songtao.
