How did Shai reconcile? Lu Kang's Speech Faces China's Diplomatic Hotspot Indonesia | China | Hotspot
"I heard that the students are very concerned about one question: how did China successfully promote reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran?" In a speech on the 26th, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lu Kang faced up to the topic frequently asked in his recent conversation with Indonesian friends.
Three months ago, Saudi Arabia and Iran shook hands and made peace in Beijing. China's successful mediation of historic reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran has attracted widespread attention from various sectors in Indonesia.
At the Institute of Strategic and International Studies of the University of Indonesia, Lu Kang opened his mind to the teachers and students from the audience: "The resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran should first be attributed to the two countries themselves, and to the sincerity and efforts of the people of Saudi Arabia and Iran in their commitment to national development, good neighborliness, regional stability, harmony in the Muslim world, and solidarity among developing countries." He said that Saudi Iran reconciliation, first of all, is the choice made by the two countries themselves, and is also the common expectation of countries in the Middle East. In fact, regional countries such as the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman have also made positive contributions to the reconciliation process.
Lu Kang further explained that China certainly strongly supports and is willing to actively promote such philanthropy, which is conducive to peace, harmony and development in the Middle East and even the world. China's ability to play a role is due to the trust of the parties involved, that is, the trust in China's Middle East policy, the trust in China's diplomatic philosophy that has always been upheld, and the trust in China's constructive role in today's international affairs.
This is Lu Kang's third public speech in more than a month, and every time he answers the questions of teachers and students on the spot, he does not avoid hot and sensitive issues. Previously, Lu Kang delivered a keynote speech on China's foreign policy, China Indonesia relations, etc. at the Indonesian National Defense Research Institute. At the Indonesian Presidential University, Lu Kang delivered a keynote speech on Chinese path to modernization.
The University of Indonesia was founded in 1849, and its Institute for Strategic and International Studies is a major hub in the Indonesian international relations academic community. Lu Kang delivered a keynote speech on "China's influence in the Middle East and its prospects for peace and stability", and answered questions on China's Middle East policy, China Indonesia friendly cooperation, China's relations with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the South China Sea and other issues.
"China has always insisted that the fate of the Middle East should be in the hands of the Middle East countries themselves." Lu Kang said that the continuous improvement of Saudi Arabia Iraq relations not only opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, but also set an example for resolving contradictions and differences between countries in the region through dialogue and consultation. "We look forward to the early resolution of the Palestinian issue, which is the core of the Middle East issue."
When talking about issues related to the "the Belt and Road", Lu Kang said that China's "the Belt and Road" initiative aims to promote common development and has never intended to compete with other development initiatives.
Data shows that over the past decade, more than 150 countries and regions, and more than 30 international organizations have participated in the "the Belt and Road" cooperation, stimulating nearly trillion dollars of investment and creating 420000 jobs for countries along the route. Lu Kang said, "It is in the past decade that China has become Indonesia's largest trading partner. In fact, today, China and the entire ASEAN have become each other's largest trading partner."
In response to the situation in the Taiwan Strait, Lu Kang said, "just as the Papua issue is to Indonesia, the Taiwan issue is a core interest issue involving China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. I also highly value the vast majority of Indonesian friends who do not agree with the fallacy of individual countries slandering China's so-called 'changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait."
A month ago, Lu Kang and his colleagues from the Chinese Embassy made a special trip to Bandung to visit the famous Asian African Conference Memorial Hall. In his view, the ten principles of the Bandung Conference emphasized the equality of all countries, regardless of their size, which is also a fundamental principle that developing countries, including China and Indonesia, adhere to in international relations. We must surpass the so-called "superiority" of civilization with civilized tolerance.
"We don't accept any way of thinking that we are superior and that we can tell other countries what to do," Lu Kang said.
