Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government: The National Security Law Will Not Make Anyone Fall into the Legal Net. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region | Take | Offense | Harm | Spokesperson | Government | Organization | Hong Kong National Security Law
According to the News Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on the 1st, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government strongly opposes and condemns any further unreasonable attacks and defamation of Hong Kong's National Security Law, the National Security Department of the Police Force, and the Department of Justice by foreign legal organizations in accordance with the law.
The spokesperson of the SAR government emphasized that endangering national security is a serious crime. No country, including the country where these organizations are located, will stand idly by in response to actions and activities that endanger national security. The biased remarks made by the organization regarding Hong Kong's national security law demonstrate their extremely narrow understanding of Hong Kong's national security law.
The spokesperson stated that the Hong Kong National Security Law clearly defines crimes that endanger national security and will not allow anyone to fall into the legal trap. The Hong Kong National Security Law also clearly stipulates that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region should respect and protect human rights in safeguarding national security.
The spokesperson stated that law enforcement agencies in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region have been taking enforcement actions based on evidence, strictly in accordance with the law, and in accordance with the behavior of relevant individuals or units, regardless of their political stance, background, or profession. The police have a responsibility to take all necessary measures in accordance with the law to apprehend and bring to justice eight individuals suspected of continuing to commit crimes under the Hong Kong National Security Law after fleeing from other places, seriously endangering national security.
The spokesperson said, "The SAR government once again reiterates that it is a common practice for the police and other law enforcement agencies to publicly disclose information on fugitives wanted on suspicion of committing serious crimes, and to request the assistance of the public in apprehending fugitives and bringing them to justice. This is also in line with international practice."
The spokesperson reiterated that the SAR government strongly urges relevant organizations to recognize the facts, not to be used by individuals with ulterior motives, and immediately stop wanton defamation and smearing of the Hong Kong National Security Law and its implementation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The SAR government will continue to steadfastly implement the Hong Kong National Security Law comprehensively and accurately, prevent, stop and punish acts and activities that endanger national security in accordance with the law, so that Hong Kong can steadily move towards "governance and prosperity".
