Hong Kong has achieved "results" in these three things, Li Jiachao: Hong Kong in the past year | Goals | Li Jiachao
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, upholds the policy direction of "results oriented". In a recent interview with the "Hong Kong and Macao Reception Room" of China News Network, he stated that in the past year, Hong Kong has achieved "results" in three aspects, including comprehensive "customs clearance" with the mainland.
"I think what better meets my requirements is that the government generally works relatively quickly," said Li Jiachao, whose team handles problems according to the principles of speed, quantity, and efficiency. Specifically, the most obvious thing is that Hong Kong has normal customs clearance with the mainland and is in line with the world.
Li Jiachao said that after three years of COVID-19, Hong Kong finally fully cleared customs with the mainland, emerged from the haze of the epidemic, and society came back to life and move. The people are happier, more confident, and more hopeful than before.
Li Jiachao is also satisfied with the results of Hong Kong's proactive "talent competition". He said that the goal set by the SAR government is to introduce 35000 talents annually, but different policies have been introduced. Within five months, more than 80000 applications have been made, of which about 49000 have been approved. "I think this trend will continue, and the annual target of 35000 is achievable and more likely to be surpassed."
Another result is a shortened waiting time for public housing. Li Jiachao said that when he took office, he had already capped the waiting time for public housing for 6.1 years, but now he has seen a decline, with the most recent being 5.3 years, almost 0.8 years, and more than 10% faster.
"But of course, we are not satisfied with this, and we will continue to work hard." Li Jiachao said that his goal is to reduce the waiting time for public housing to 4.5 years within 5 years. In addition to increasing the normal supply of public housing, the SAR government has also launched minimalist public housing, with an expected construction of 30000 units to fill the large supply gap in the first 5 years.
