At the Hong Kong Creative Museum of the 19th China International Cultural Industry Expo, the figure of Hong Kong designer Huang Jing reappeared.
This is his seventh time participating in the Cultural Expo. Starting from June 7th, during the 5-day exhibition, he will act as a curator to promote Hong Kong design to clients.
"More than 10 sets of home furnishings exhibited by over 40 Hong Kong designers have transformed from design drawings into tangible objects," Huang Jing told reporters. Participating in multiple cultural and creative exhibitions, he clearly felt the booming development of the mainland's cultural and creative industry, which has also expanded the space for creative landing of Hong Kong designers.

At the Hong Kong Creative Museum, the "East to West Efficient Workstation" has attracted the attention of journalists. This set of desks is composed of three tables and three baffles combined in the shape of a windmill. When individuals prefer to work alone, pull up the front panel of the desk to increase privacy in the work area; When group discussions are needed, there is no need for an independent meeting room. Pulling down the front panel of the table becomes an open communication area.
Huang Jing told reporters that Hong Kong designers have integrated Eastern and Western office cultures into their designs, and backed by the mature industrial chain of mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, the process of transforming design drawings into physical objects is like adding wings to a tiger. Huang Jing also used a walnut chair exhibited at the Hong Kong Creative Museum as an example to explain the strength of the mainland's industrial chain.
This walnut chair, designed in collaboration with multiple Hong Kong designers, has a smooth overall surface without any card slots. According to him, during the process of assembling wooden boards, magnets have already been evenly embedded, and the backrest of the chair can be equipped with magnetic pillows. The entire wooden chair not only has a simple and elegant appearance, but also conforms to ergonomics.
Huang Jing stated that during the production process, there is a need for multiple exchanges and communication between designers and manufacturers. The imaginative imagination should not only be based on the drawings, but also on the actual situation, continuously optimizing the best version through the use of templates. The most important thing is that there should be a "sound" after the product is launched.
Growing up in Hong Kong and developing in mainland China for over 20 years. Huang Jing said: "The current cultural and creative market in the mainland is very mature. What we have seen is not only a product, but also a business model covering the whole process from design, production and sales to new media Tiktok and Xiaohongshu operation, which has led the world."
As an industrial designer, he currently works on brand packaging and planning for many well-known enterprises in mainland China. Huang Jing said that nowadays, many companies in mainland China have shifted from operating large teams in the past to collaborating with small companies with different specialties. Because small companies are more likely to specialize in a specific niche field, this model can also match the flexible and free work mode of young designers and entrepreneurs.

It is precisely this change that has shown Huang Jing the potential of Hong Kong designers. He believes that Hong Kong designers have inherent advantages in integrating Eastern and Western cultures, and starting a business in mainland China can start with small teams to serve large enterprises and reduce the initial costs of entrepreneurship. At the same time, he emphasized that young people from Hong Kong and Macao should enter the mainland, make more friends, and deeply understand the long history and culture of the motherland.

At the Hong Kong Creative Museum, eagle shaped pottery tripods, bronze rhinoceros statues with gold and silver cloud patterns, blue glazed and golden sea and river clear statues, and rectangular flower pots with red and golden fish patterns have appeared in cultural and creative products in various creative forms through the creative ideas of Hong Kong designers from the National Museum of China.
As the Chief Advisor of ACE Creative Education Association in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, Huang Jing led designers from Hong Kong and Macau to participate in the Youth Cultural and Creative Experience Camp project held in mainland China. Several designers have become contracted designers for the "National Expo Yanyi".
At the Milan Design Week held earlier this year, Hong Kong designers showcased their cultural and creative products from the "National Museum of Art" exhibition. Huang Jing confidently said, "On the international stage, tell the story of China well."
