High Quality Development Research Tour | Going Green - Impressions of Three Ecological Stories by the Yangtze River | Reporter | Yangtze River
Nanchang, July 21, Xinhua News Agency - Traveling towards Green - Three Ecological Stories by the Yangtze River
Xinhua News Agency reporter Chen Zhuzuo
Entrepreneurs returning from big cities to rural areas, urban life "experience officers" by the Xunyang River, and small "researchers" in aquariums... Recently, the reporter visited many places in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, and three ecological stories left a deep impression.
Entrepreneurs returning from big cities to rural areas
"First, eat a piece of chilled watermelon. After completing the procedures, the butler will take you to the wooden house to check in." The person in front of the tenant is Lu Xianfeng, the person in charge of the Yueshan Residential Quarters in Changshui Village, Luoping Town, Wuning County, Jiujiang City. This is his sixth year of "treasure hunting" in Changshui Village.
In 2016, Lu Xianfeng, who had worked in Tangshan for three years, became the head of the northern market for a tourism company. He saw that the good mountains and water in his hometown contained business opportunities, so he quit his job in the city and returned to his hometown to invest in the development of the homestay industry. The construction of the homestay broke ground just after the Spring Festival in 2017.

Main business operation, with multiple extensions. Nowadays, homestays have 21 wooden houses and 60 standard guest rooms built along the mountains and by the water, providing services such as agricultural product sales, catering, leisure and entertainment. We received over 2500 passengers in May this year.

Seeing that Lu Xianfeng was doing well, local villagers also joined in and vigorously developed rural tourism, understory economic industries, and characteristic homestays. In 2022, the collective income of the village reached 1.39 million yuan, an increase of 33.8% compared to the previous year.
Experience Officer of Urban Life by the Xunyang River
"Not enough, not enough at all." Yang Jie, a resident of Jiujiang, told reporters that since the opening of the Pipa Book House, he has been in the book house almost every weekend morning. "I will first order a cup of coffee on the first floor, and then go to the second floor to select a book to read carefully."
The Pipa Book House is located in the Yangtze River National Cultural Park in Xunyang District, Jiujiang City. The house not only has more than 5000 books for free reading, but also has coffee shops and tea rooms with Xunyang cultural characteristics on the first and third floors, respectively. Since its opening in June this year, about 25000 people have come here to enjoy the fragrance of books and culture.
"Last week, my two friends and I were in the library in the morning and went to the nearby pipa pavilion in the afternoon to watch the immersive exhibition 'pipa walk', which was particularly impressive," Yang Jie said.

Showcasing a millennium old cultural heritage and creating a "showcase belt" of emerging cultures. Jiujiang fully utilizes the natural scenery of the Yangtze River coastline and the cultural characteristics of Xunyang to create the "most beautiful coastline" of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park. Nowadays, cultural landmarks such as Pipa Pavilion, Xunyang Tower, and Pipa Book House are connected into a line, and the "Xunyang River Fun Summer Party" event at Zhenshui Niu Square enriches the nighttime economic consumption industry.
Before leaving the bookstore, Yang Jie took a photo and posted it on her social media, with an accompanying text: "Reading thousands of poems and books, exploring the Yangtze River with culture, and the happiness index of urban life up!"

The little "researcher" in the aquarium
In China's Yangtze River Dolphin Bay Aquatic Biological Protection Base, there are children's figures everywhere. Next to an aquarium, the reporter heard a young but determined voice.
"This is a sturgeon, and the slanted rectangular body with black stripes is a rouge fish..." 9-year-old tourist Zhu Guoyuan held his mother and kept talking in front of the aquarium. Zhu Guoyuan's mother said, "He has loved all kinds of fish since he was young, so I happened to take him to visit during the summer vacation."
The Yangtze River Dolphin Bay Aquatic Biological Protection Base in China is located on the banks of Poyang Lake in Hukou County, Jiujiang City, integrating aquatic biological protection, science popularization and education. Since the trial operation on December 31, 2022, more than 150000 tourists have been received.
"When I was his age, many organisms in the Yangtze River could only be seen in textbooks. Now things are very different. The environment in the Yangtze River is getting better and better, and there is such a protective base." As he spoke, Zhu Guoyuan asked his mother to see his new discovery - a science popularization display machine, selecting categories and names, and displaying rich graphic, textual, audio and video content in front of him.
Zhu Guoyuan said, "My classmates call me the 'Encyclopedia of Fish', hoping that when I grow up, I will have the opportunity to continue researching them."
