He ordered: everyone enters the highest state of readiness!
According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency on August 26, Niger Radio released news that Musa Salau Barmu, the chief of staff appointed by the Niger coup army, ordered the Niger armed forces to be brought to the highest state of combat readiness.
"From the moment we receive this message, all personnel have entered the highest state of readiness," Balmou said in an emergency broadcast message
According to the report, Balmou explained that this decision was made against the backdrop of Niger being increasingly threatened by aggression, with the aim of avoiding various unexpected events and ensuring adequate response.
Previously, there were reports that a military leader of the Niger coup had received training from the US military.
The report mentioned that the Niger military announced on national television at the end of July that President Mohammad Bazum had been dismissed. Most Western leaders and the Economic Community of West African States condemned this coup. In early August, a special meeting of the Chief of the General Staff of the Western Community, held in Abuja, Nigeria, approved a plan to allow military intervention in Niger.
