He gave a slight warning to Zelensky: be grateful! London | Ukraine | Warning
According to Vilnius, on July 12th, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace made a different tone in the usually harmonious relationship between London and Kiev, stating that Ukraine should express more gratitude to its allies and complaining that Britain is not the "Amazon" of Ukrainian military supplies.
According to reports, British Prime Minister Richie Sunak quickly took action to block claims that London was angered by Ukrainian President Zelensky's strong lobbying at the NATO summit. Zelensky strongly calls on the West to provide more support for Ukraine's resistance against Russia.
The report states that Zelensky himself denies any claims of strained relations. However, Ukraine is greatly disappointed that the two-day NATO Vilnius summit did not produce a clear time frame for inviting Kiev to join NATO.
In this context, Wallace's remarks have sparked embarrassing headlines and claims of disharmony in relationships.
"There is a slight warning, whether we like it or not, people want to see gratitude," Wallace told British media reporters during the NATO summit. "Sometimes you are persuading countries to give up their own reserves... Yes, we believe that you are fighting this war not only for yourself, but also for our freedom. But sometimes you have to persuade members of Congress in the United States. You also have to persuade skeptical politicians in other countries to believe that it is worth it and that they have gained something for it."
According to the report, Wallace also recalled that last year, after receiving a weapons list from Ukraine, he told Kyiv officials, "I am not Amazon.".
