Harmony and Reasoning | The United States Should Jump Out of the Well and Look at the World with a Correct View of China US Relations
Under the influence of irrational populist tendencies in the United States, the relationship between China and the United States continues to deteriorate. Like the legendary frog in the well, many people in Washington have a narrow and simple view of the world. It seems that they have no intention or can't understand the wide scope and rich connotation of Sino US relations.
In the eyes of some in the US House or Senate, any sudden turning point is impossible, as it goes against their beliefs, bottomhole perspectives, and the resulting misconceptions. President Biden and his government must be more cautious and consider multiple factors. Therefore, he chose to send Minister of Commerce Raymond to visit China.
People generally hope that the US Secretary of Commerce will have constructive discussions on bilateral business relations, challenges faced by businesses in both countries, and potential areas of cooperation during his visit. Raymond met with Chinese colleagues on Monday to promote the development of business relations between the two sides, such as promoting Chinese travel and tourism to the United States. According to Raymond, if China's tourism industry recovers to the level of 2019, it will add $30 billion in revenue and 50000 job opportunities to the United States. This may be easily agreed upon as the two governments have agreed to double the number of flights.
Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao told Raymond that China is willing to work together with the United States, adhering to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, to create a good policy environment for cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, and promote bilateral trade and investment.
However, the attitude of the US government seems different from that of China. The Chinese government expects both sides to discuss the overall relationship for constructive engagement, while the US government seems unwilling to stay too far from the familiar well. This requires the United States to step out of the well, take a broader perspective, and view the world outside the well with a clearer perspective, and correctly view the most important bilateral relations in the world today.
