Harmony and Judgment | David Camp Meeting Releases Dangerous Signal Japan and South Korea Helping the Crusaders Will End up Eating Its Own Fruit Japan | United States | Danger
The leaders of the United States, Japan, and South Korea will hold talks on August 18th local time at Camp David, the presidential resort in Maryland, USA. Various signs indicate that a new trilateral security alliance is brewing, and this undoubtedly sends a dangerous signal.
In March of this year, the South Korean government proposed a solution to the historical issues between South Korea and Japan, which paved the way for the Biden administration to merge the US South Korea and US Japan security alliances into a trilateral security alliance. Under the framework of the trilateral security alliance, South Korea is expected to significantly adjust its military deployment. It is regrettable that, more than 30 years after the end of the Cold War, Asia had to form the precursor of such a NATO style security alliance solely due to external manipulation.
China has celebrated the 31st anniversary of diplomatic relations with South Korea, the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Japan, and the 44th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the United States. China South Korea, China Japan, and China US relations are all based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, peaceful coexistence, and respect for the One China principle.
It is worrisome that in recent years, the United States has done everything possible to contain China's development, including manipulating the "Taiwan card", making a big fuss over the South China Sea and East China Sea issues, and provoking technology and trade disputes. The Camp David meeting is clearly a new tactic. After joining the trilateral security alliance, South Korea will no longer be an independent participant in regional affairs, but a vassal of the United States' Indo Pacific strategy, perhaps becoming a pawn for the United States to maintain hegemony, just like Japan.
Both Japan and South Korea should realize that it is the long-term peace and stability in the Asia Pacific region that has created a stable external environment for the economic development of both countries, and China, as the world's largest market, manufacturing base, and logistics center, has provided support for regional development.
Unfortunately, Japan and South Korea are betting their country's future on the extremely short-sighted geopolitical game of the United States. If they persist, they will turn cooperation into competition, unity into division, and friendship into hostility.
