"Bayang Town is surrounded by mountains, with high altitude, abundant clouds and mist, limited sunlight, and good ecology, making it suitable for growing tea." Ban Xingkun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Bayang Town, said that since 2010, the town has regarded the tea industry as a pillar industry for the development of the entire town, achieving the goal of ecological construction to expand green areas and increase farmers' income and lift themselves out of poverty.
It is understood that a total of 41000 acres of tea gardens have been built in Bayang Town, forming a 40 kilometer tea industry belt and three tea industry clusters. The annual production of tea is 1500 tons, and the annual output value of tea exceeds 150 million yuan. It has been awarded the title of "Ecological Tea Demonstration Park" at the provincial level.
Ziyun is located in a concentrated and contiguous poverty-stricken area of rocky desertification in Yunnan, Guangxi, and Guizhou provinces. It is a typical example of regional poverty under the fragile karst ecological environment conditions in Guizhou Province, and also one of the last deep poverty-stricken counties in the country to announce poverty alleviation.
In recent years, Ziyun has firmly adhered to the ecological bottom line, changed its development strategy, and on the basis of building a well preserved green water and green mountains, sought economic development from mountainous areas and ecological development, promoting the creation of a "green Ziyun" with "sloping flower and fruit mountains, fields and vegetable gardens, households and farmers enjoying themselves, and everyone striving for a moderately prosperous society.".
"Without 'green mountains and clear waters', how can we talk about' golden mountains and silver mountains'? To create a 'green purple cloud', the first step is to focus on the word 'green'. Yang Jian, the county mayor of Ziyun Autonomous County, said that the county consciously undertakes the mission of being a national key ecological functional area, continuously strengthens ecological construction, promotes desertification control, improves ecological quality, and solidifies the foundation of green development.". At present, the forest coverage rate of Ziyun has reached 68.63%, and the forest land ownership exceeds 2.3 million mu.
While steadily improving the ecological quality, Ziyun continues to promote the integrated development of "ecology+industry", vigorously developing the understory economy, and continuously building an ecological industry development pattern of "tea on the slope, medicinal herbs in the forest, busy beekeeping in the forest, and leaping eggs and chickens in the forest". It also facilitates the transformation of "green water and green mountains" into "golden mountains and silver mountains", and has successively created a number of green industrial parks such as "Zimo Qinglan" in Songshan, "Aegean Sea" in Houchang Xiaowan boutique fruit, Maoying 10000 mu Blueberry Picking Garden, 10000 mu Yangmei Grand View Garden on the land, Daying Ten Li Guihua Township, and Sparkling 10000 mu Orange Garden.

Since 2020, Ziyun Autonomous County has innovated its management system and vigorously developed the understory economy through the model of "leading companies+state-owned forest farms+cooperatives+farmers", such as raising chickens and bees under the forest, planting fungi under the forest, and planting traditional Chinese medicine under the forest. It has embarked on a new path of "digging gold" under the forest and enriching the people ecologically, achieving resource growth, forestry efficiency improvement, and people's income growth, mutually promoting and complementing each other.
According to Wang Congjun, the director of Langfengguan Forest Farm, the farm currently develops 1000 acres of undergrowth bacteria, 40000 undergrowth chickens, and 300 undergrowth bees, connecting more than 730 impoverished households with interests, and synchronously promoting the development of characteristic industries such as traditional Chinese medicine, high-quality fruits, and other undergrowth planting and breeding. At present, 100 acres of blueberries have been planted, and a total of 300 acres of high-quality fruits such as seedless prickly pear, plum, and peach have been planted.
Camellia oleifera is one of the key ecological industries developed by Ziyun in recent years. At present, the oil tea base in Huangheying Village, Maoying Town, Ziyun Autonomous County is surrounded by lush oil tea forests, with clusters of large oil tea fruits hanging on the branches, each round and full, bending the tree tops.
In 2014, Chen Feishu, the person in charge of the Camellia oleifera base, transferred 1300 acres of sloping land to Maoying Town to plant Camellia oleifera. Now, as the Camellia oleifera trees grow taller and taller, the fruit yield continues to increase, and the economic benefits are also soaring. Chen Feishu told reporters that as the grassy wasteland turns into a vibrant oil tea garden, it has attracted many tourists to take photos and check in, and the trend of integrated development of multiple industries is initially showing.
It is understood that the planting area of Camellia oleifera in Ziyun Autonomous County has reached 30000 acres, and it is expected that more than 3000 acres of Camellia oleifera will enter the peak production period this year.
People will not betray the green mountains, and the green mountains will not betray them. Nowadays, the channel for the transformation between the two mountains in Ziyun has been opened up, and the sleeping mountains have been awakened. Green welfare is accelerating its release, and a new ecological picture of green mountains and clear waters is being painted to increase people's income.
