This year marks the 10th anniversary of the initiative of jointly building the "the Belt and Road". Looking back over the past 10 years, enterprises have been an important driving force for the "the Belt and Road" construction, as well as the main practitioners and beneficiaries of the "the Belt and Road" construction. On June 14, the offline visit activity of "Look at China with the Tide in the Rising Bay Area of 'Guangdong'" came to Shenzhen and came to ZTE and BYD to understand the story of the two enterprises' "going out" under the "the Belt and Road" initiative.
In the past 10 years, Chinese information and communication enterprises have actively "gone global" and achieved results in improving international network service capabilities and helping countries and regions along the "the Belt and Road" to achieve digital transformation. ZTE is an example of Chinese information and communication enterprises actively participating in the construction of the "the Belt and Road". It is reported that ZTE has covered more than 110 of the 150 countries that have signed the "the Belt and Road" memorandum of cooperation with China. In countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, ZTE cooperates with local operators and actively participates in the construction of local digital infrastructure, contributing to improving the coverage level of local mobile communication networks. Among them, ZTE's construction of the Bangladesh National Data Center has become an accelerator for promoting Bangladesh's digital transformation.
Not only Chinese information and communication enterprises, but also Chinese new energy vehicle enterprises have made great achievements in countries and regions along the "the Belt and Road" in recent years. According to information from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, in the first quarter of 2023, China's automobile exports to Central Asian countries reached 500 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 121%, especially with Chinese new energy vehicles being favored by Central Asian people. Taking Uzbekistan as an example, as the largest automotive market in Central Asia, a transformation towards electrification of automobiles is taking place here, and the cooperation between BYD and Uzbekistan's automotive companies is eye-catching. In January of this year, Uzbekistan Automotive Industry Company and BYD officially registered a joint venture in Ukraine to produce and sell BYD's electric and hybrid new energy vehicles locally. Strengthening cooperation with Chinese new energy vehicle companies will contribute to the popularization and promotion of new energy vehicles in Uzbekistan, promote green and low-carbon transformation, and further promote the development of the new energy vehicle market in Central Asia.
The Survey Report on Chinese Enterprises' Participation in the Construction of the the Belt and Road recently released by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade shows that Chinese enterprises interviewed highly agree with, are optimistic about, and actively participate in the construction of the the Belt and Road. Taking the 10th anniversary of the "the Belt and Road" initiative as an opportunity, Chinese enterprises will continue to stride forward on the "the Belt and Road", and carry out more in-depth practical cooperation with the business community of countries and regions along the Belt and Road to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
