On the afternoon of July 27th, the fourth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress decided, through a vote, to appoint Lin Tao as the Vice Governor of Guangdong Province. Lin Tao has become the third deputy governor to take office in the past two days, and also the second "post-70s" deputy governor in the current Guangdong Provincial Government team.
Lin Tao previously served as the Secretary of the Heyuan Municipal Party Committee in Guangdong Province.
Lin Tao, male, born in July 1971, of Han ethnicity, native to Jieyang. He started working in July 1993 and joined the Communist Party of China in June 1996. He holds a doctoral degree while working. Lin Tao has served as a staff member of the News and Culture Department of the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Deputy Director of the Foreign Fund Utilization Department of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Planning Commission, Deputy Director of the Jieyang Municipal Drug Administration, and Deputy Director of the High tech Industry Department of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Planning Commission. In April 2006, Lin Tao joined the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangdong Province and served as the Deputy Director and Director of the Comprehensive Department of the Office, a member of the Party Group, the leader of the Discipline Inspection Group, and the Supervision Commissioner.
In November 2011, Lin Tao went to Shanwei to serve as a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanwei Municipal Committee and Minister of Propaganda. From November 2015, he also served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Government. In June 2019, continuous heavy rainfall caused flooding in Heyuan City, with over 60 townships affected to varying degrees and over 110000 people affected. Ding Hongdu, then Secretary of the Heyuan Municipal Party Committee, and Lin Tao, then Acting Mayor of Heyuan City, respectively rushed to various counties and districts to inspect and guide flood control and disaster relief work, and made on-site arrangements for the new round of heavy rainfall response and prevention work. According to reports, the main leaders of the Municipal Party Committee, including Ding Hongdu and Lin Tao, rushed to the front line of the disaster area for more than 10 consecutive days, entering and exiting the severely affected areas to guide rescue, relief, and production work. Among them, Sun Zhiyang was born in May 1974. After Lin Tao took office, he added another deputy governor of Guangdong Province, who is currently born in the 1970s.
