German media reveals that negotiations between Lukashenko and Prigoren may be eavesdropped on for rebellion | President | Lukashenko
According to TASS on July 7th, the German Federal Intelligence Agency may have monitored negotiations between Belarusian President Lukashenko and private military company Wagner Group founder Prigoren during an attempted armed rebellion.
The report said that the above news was disclosed by German television station. A German television station cited a news investigation by its subsidiary West German Broadcasting Station and North German Radio Station, stating that the German Federal Intelligence Agency may have "better knowledge than previously known about Russia's rebellion attempts," and that the agency may have "monitored negotiations between Wagner Group founder Prigoren and Lukashenko.". A German television station stated that German Federal Intelligence Agency staff "clearly witnessed an important dialogue between Lukashenko and Prigoren.".
The report also stated that the investigation showed that the German Federal Intelligence Agency had suspected the possibility of a rebellion in Prigorn almost a week before the incident and attempted to verify with its partners, but failed to do so. A German television station pointed out that for this reason, the German Federal Intelligence Agency did not inform the Prime Minister's Office of information about a possible rebellion in Russia. The agency did not inform the German government of the events that occurred in Russia until the evening of June 23rd.

Previously, Der Spiegel magazine reported that the German Federal Intelligence Agency was criticized for not understanding the Wagner Group's intention to launch a rebellion. The weekly magazine stated that the German Federal Intelligence Agency had obtained information about Wagner's troop movements from US intelligence agencies in advance, but was "unable to independently verify" and correctly evaluate this intelligence. Especially, just a few hours before the attempted rebellion, officials from the German Federal Intelligence Agency also met with Foreign Minister Analena Berber, but the report did not mention this topic at all. The article emphasizes that German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius learned about this incident from media reports on the morning of June 24th.
