In recent years, with the joint efforts of the whole school, the total number of projects approved by the National Social Science Foundation has ranked first in the country for three consecutive years. On October 25, 2022, Xiamen University set up the Chinese path to modernization Research Institute for the first time, aiming at the forefront, organizing scientific research, grasping the direction, and making a series of important achievements.

Promoting self-reliance and self-improvement in philosophy and social sciences through organized scientific research

Building an independent knowledge system of Chinese path to modernization and promoting the construction of the discipline system, academic system and discourse system of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics is a systematic project and system integration, involving various fields and aspects. It needs to advance with the times to promote the innovation of research methods of philosophy and social sciences.

One is to strengthen top-level planning and proactively connect with national needs. Philosophy and social sciences need to conduct in-depth research and answer major theoretical and practical issues facing China's development and the governance of our party. The current wave of informatization is reshaping the new pattern of human economy, politics, culture, society, and ecology, while also presenting new opportunities and challenges for the work of philosophy and social sciences. No matter how the form of media changes with the development of the times, people's demand for information remains unchanged, and content construction has always been the focus of network ideological work. We should use the Internet and big data technology to strengthen the infrastructure and informatization construction of philosophy and social science books and documents, networks, databases, etc., speed up the construction of the national philosophy and social science literature center, and build a convenient, fast and resource sharing platform for philosophy and social science research informatization. Strengthen the construction of online content, transform content into content charm, and promote the main theme of online ideology and culture with high-quality content supply.

The third is to strengthen the integration between China and foreign countries and tell the story of China well. The transition from learning and introducing Western philosophical and social science concepts to constructing Chinese concepts based on Chinese factual experience reflects the academic confidence and self-awareness of philosophical and social sciences, which is a commendable progress. Since this year, under the theme of "Humanities and Social Sciences in Chinese path to modernization: Mission, Responsibility and Feelings", Xiamen University has held more than 10 academic seminars at home and abroad, attracted more than 1300 guests from home and abroad, and explored the path of Chinese path to modernization in an all-round and multi field way.
