The Propaganda Department of Shandan County Committee in Zhangye City, Gansu Province announced on the 25th that a fire broke out at Shandan Dafo Temple on the 24th, but the site of the county-level cultural relic protection unit Dafo Temple was not affected by the fire and is well preserved.

At around 4:00 am on July 24th, a fire broke out at the Dafo Temple in Shandan County, which was under maintenance and construction. The city and county immediately organized efforts to extinguish the fire. As of 10:00 am on July 24th, the open flame had been extinguished and no casualties were caused. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Grand Buddha Temple in Shandan County was built in 1998 and is adjacent to the site of Shandan Grand Buddha Temple, a county-level cultural relic protection unit. The fire caused damage to the Grand Buddha Temple, but the site of the Grand Buddha Temple, a county-level cultural relic protection unit, was not affected by the fire and is well preserved.
The site of Dafosi Temple in Shandan County is located at the foot of a high mountain on the west side of Qingquan Village in Qingquan Town. The remaining north and south sloping walls of the original Dafosi Temple were announced as a county-level cultural relic protection unit on August 19, 1989.
