From the Student Union | Teachers and Students | Mainland China
A visiting delegation consisting of 37 teachers and students from five universities in mainland China is currently exchanging ideas in Taiwan. From the visits of the faculty and students group, I felt the cultural and sports interaction between students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and this trip has attracted much attention from Taiwan's public opinion.
"As far as I know, people are very surprised and welcome to the visit." Chen Zhengui, former president of Taiwan University of Practice, described the delegation's trip as an "ice-breaking trip". As he said, the teacher-student group, including table tennis Olympic champion Ding Ning, is very popular in Taiwan. Wherever they go, they are constantly followed up by Taiwan media.
On the 18th, students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait had a musical interaction in the form of an ensemble of national musical instruments at the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. ETtoday News Cloud reported that Chen Kaidi, a Peking University student who participated in the performance, said in an interview that the sound of the piano felt that the two sides of the strait were indeed of the same origin.
In terms of sports exchanges, Ding Ning exchanged skills with the teachers and students of National Chengchi University during his visit to Taiwan. According to the Central News Agency, Ding Ning started a friendship exchange match with on-the-spot guidance on skills such as pulling the spin ball. China News Network called Ding Ning "confident temperament second circle powder watching students". The report mentioned that a political college student did not know Ding Ning before, but was attracted by his self-confidence and professional personal charm when watching the match on the spot, "even if there were a large audience, he could maintain a comfortable atmosphere".
From visiting the Taiji Innovation Museum and the Bicycle Culture Exploration Museum when they first arrived in Taiwan to feel the driving force of Taiwan's industrial development, to recently communicating and interacting with their peers in colleges and universities, public opinion has also observed that the itinerary of the mainland teacher-student group is "meaningful".
Zuo Zhengdong, a professor of political science at National Taiwan University, recently pointed out in a Zhongtian TV news program that Ding Ning, who has attracted much attention this time, is not only a student, but also an Olympic champion, and can not only carry out academic exchanges, but also achieve the effect of sports exchanges. This shows that the delegation has invested its efforts in route planning and preparation.
"As you can imagine, there will be a lot of tidbits along the way." Zuo Zhengdong said that the visiting delegation will visit many places in Taiwan, and also go to universities and think tanks for exchanges. The purpose is to allow students to have exchanges and dialogues with people from different aspects and classes in Taiwanese society, enhance mutual understanding, and generate some excitement.
Wang Shangzhi, a senior media person in Taiwan, also believes that the itinerary of this visit is of substantial exchange significance. In the above-mentioned program, he said that he believed that in the future, young people from mainland China will no longer be limited to sightseeing and tourism visits, but will become solid, dense, learning, communication and experience exchanges, with real mutual understanding and expression as the main axis.
The ripples created by the teacher-student group in Taiwan are also welcomed by public opinion. On the 18th, the United Daily News published a commentary by Song Lei, a doctoral student in Taiwan's universities, pointing out that Taiwan society should cherish the hard-won opportunities for exchanges. The article said that after the DPP authorities came to power, they did not recognize the "1992 consensus", and cross-strait relations immediately froze. At the end of March and early April this year, Mr. Ma Ying-jeou led young friends to visit the mainland and brought them closer together through real interaction, which is a manifestation of sincere exchanges between the two sides of the strait.
Song Lei mentioned in the article that both sides of the strait are inheritors of Chinese culture, and when they communicate with mainland students during school, they do not feel the generation gap and grudge with each other. Taiwan should seize the opportunity of the mainland's teacher and student delegation to visit Taiwan and create a space for dialogue and cooperation with the mainland in the future.
Qiu Kunxuan, a professor at National Chengchi University, also wrote to the "United Daily News" recently, saying that we have the responsibility to promote cross-strait exchanges and enhance understanding, and we have the responsibility to provide young people with an environment conducive to cross-strait peaceful exchanges.
