On the 7th, Liu Yugui, a Taiwanese college student still in summer vacation, got up early. After washing up, she took the subway and traveled through the entire ancient city of Suzhou to Suzhou Chengpin Bookstore. Cleaning the desktop, organizing stationery and books, guiding guests, accompanied by the fragrance of books, Liu Yugui began a new day of internship life.
The 2023 Suzhou Internship and Employment Training Camp for Taiwanese College Students opened on July 20th in Suzhou. Over a month, more than ten Taiwanese youth were assigned to different internship positions, discovering Suzhou and understanding the mainland in their work.
As a book loving girl, Liu Yuxuan enjoyed reading novels from mainland China when she was in Taiwan, and was very interested in the historical stories and cultural styles in the books. Therefore, Liu Yugui specifically applied for the Chinese Language and Literature major at Nanchang University. In her leisure time, she would take a stroll around the places mentioned in the book, "exploring the unique charm of Chinese culture.".
When it comes to this internship position, Liu Yugui said, "Chengpin Bookstore is a well-known chain bookstore on the island. Being able to intern at Suzhou Chengpin Bookstore gives me a sense of familiarity. I want to stay in mainland China in the future to work in publishing and editing, and I also hope to use this internship opportunity to have a deeper understanding of the book market in mainland China."
Liao Kaihui, from a married family across the Taiwan Strait, is a junior student in the Department of International Economics and Trade at Zhengzhou University. Growing up in Taicang, Suzhou as a child, Liao Kaihui studied in Taiwan during middle school. When taking the college entrance exam, she had to make a choice between her two hometowns. "After careful consideration, I feel that I still prefer the food and environment in mainland China, so I chose to study at a university in mainland China. If possible, I also want to stay in mainland China to work and live after graduation."
Bank of China in Pingtan, Fujian, and Renbao Group in Kunshan, Jiangsu... In order to accumulate experience, Liao Kaihui has chosen to intern in mainland China for three consecutive holidays. She stated that the Suzhou Internship and Employment Training Camp for Taiwanese university students has provided them with desirable job positions, laying a solid foundation for their future development in mainland China. Some of Liao Kaihui's island friends love watching mainland Chinese TV dramas and variety shows, and are full of curiosity about the mainland. Liao Kaihui will also share his internship experience and travel experiences in Suzhou with them, encouraging everyone to share the development opportunities in mainland China.
Fan Pingxuan, a student from Jinan University, is interning at Taiwanese company BenQ&T with five other Taiwanese university students, three of whom are visiting mainland China for the first time. "As soon as we arrived here, the Taiwan Affairs Office and the Taiwan Affairs Association helped us get bank cards. We will teach our first mainland students to bind Alipay and recommend mobile apps commonly used in the mainland." Now, a group of people take a taxi to their work place in the morning through "Didi Chuxing", and in the evening use "Meituan" to order some mainland food to satisfy their appetite. Taiwanese college students praise the convenience of mobile payment methods and mobile apps in mainland China.
This is the third year that BenQ Solar, where Fan Pingxuan interned, has accepted Taiwanese university students for internships. Peng Shenghui, Human Resources Director of BenQ Electric, stated that through the internship camp activities, the company can recruit outstanding talents, and Taiwanese university students can understand the market in mainland China and become familiar with the employment environment in mainland China. This year, the company has specially equipped counselors to help Taiwanese college students better familiarize themselves with their work and integrate into the mainland, hoping to attract more young talents from Taiwan to develop in the mainland and promote cross-strait youth exchanges.
