How has the United States tried to turn Taiwan into a "chess piece" and "abandoned child" step by step through military collusion in recent years?

The primary purpose of flaunting the "peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue" is, of course, to increase arms sales.

The logic of the United States is that when the price of "capturing" Taiwan is greater, the possibility of conflict is less. Therefore, to ensure "peace", it is necessary to allow the mainland and Taiwan to maintain a confrontation by force and arm Taiwan to the teeth, so that no one will fire the first shot.

Last month, in order to accelerate the approval process for arms sales, the US Congress also established a dedicated working group. When talking about accelerating arms sales to Taiwan, the US Congress also said "for peace rather than war.".

Not only that, the United States now has a new trend: linking the "peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue" with the "one-China policy.

Firstly, it should be clarified that the United States knows exactly what "One China" refers to and how to uphold it.

Chinese American relations scholars Su Xiaohui and Tan Zhu shared a detail: more than a decade ago, when the former US President visited China, China and the United States still issued a joint statement, in which both sides made it very clear that they should abide by the principles of the three joint communiques between China and the United States.

Now, the United States wants to associate the "peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue" with the "one China policy". The implication is that in addition to the three Sino US joint communiques, "peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue" is also the premise of the "one China policy" of the United States.

Authoritative experts engaged in the study of the national reunification model pointed out the US conspiracy: If the premise of "peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue" is not established, the premise is gone, which means that the United States can not adhere to the "one China policy".

On this basis, the profound meaning of "joint defense" is that the United States will refuse military actions to unify Taiwan from the mainland, which the Chinese government dare not explicitly state.

In the past seven years, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have pushed Taiwan to the edge of conflict, willingly becoming a pawn of the United States, and Taiwan's internal factors cannot be ignored.

Internal factors can be seen from two aspects: one is the governance of the DPP authorities, and the other is the perception of the people in Taiwan.

In the "Nine in One" elections in Taiwan, which best reflect public satisfaction, the Tsai Ing wen administration suffered two consecutive setbacks, winning only five counties and cities in 2022, setting the worst record for the Democratic Progressive Party in 36 years.

In the seven years since the DPP came to power, the most impressive political achievements left to the people of Taiwan are the "seven shortages"-lack of water, electricity, land, labor, talent, eggs, and medicine.

In contrast, the only area where the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities can achieve stability is in defense.

Spending so much money is closely related to the two lies that the Democratic Progressive Party continues to instill in the people on the island.

The first one is that the Taiwan Strait crisis is imminent.

With this kind of "war imagination", there is also a rationality for the strengthening of military ties between the United States and Taiwan, and a realistic possibility for the narrative of American "heroes".

The problem is that with the release of some information, such narratives are becoming ineffective.

In fact, this exercise is not the first time it has been conducted.

Coincidentally, also this year, some media revealed that the "Han Guang 39" military exercise added the content of evacuating overseas Americans to a third place through the "air safety corridor" - Americans themselves also want to escape.

Having a clear understanding of the nature of Taiwan from a "chess piece" to an "abandoned child," the latest opinion poll shows that more than 60% of the people in Taiwan have lost confidence in the so-called "co-defense of Taiwan" by the United States. In the face of such a deduction from the United States, many Taiwanese netizens have realized that the United States will not send a single soldier.

So, what about the remaining over 30% of the population?

Some of them are finding their own way out in advance, just like the Hong Kong residents that Britain claimed to accept during the Hong Kong amendment controversy. But this plane ticket belongs only to a few people.

At the press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office on June 28th, Zhu Fenglian said that it is also necessary for these people to read a few more times:

"The United States will always pursue 'America First, 'Taiwan will not be an exception, and the 'pawn' will ultimately be an 'abandoned son'".
