On June 14th, the Global Forum on Human Rights Governance with the theme of "Equality, Cooperation, and Development: The 30th Anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action and Global Human Rights Governance" opened in Beijing. More than 300 Chinese and foreign guests from nearly 100 countries and international organizations, including United Nations agencies, were invited to attend.
Akmar Saidov, the First Vice President of Uzbekistan and Director of the National Center for Human Rights, pointed out in his speech that China has been tirelessly promoting and protecting human rights, and its role on the international stage is becoming increasingly important and influential. He stated that the human rights of all countries should be respected, and each country's history, culture, traditions, social mechanisms, and economic development models are not the same. Therefore, it is very necessary to fully recognize the unique situation of each country and the unique needs of its people. Only in this way can we truly find and explore the best path to protect human rights.
Aslan Abashize, Vice Chairman and Rapporteur of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Director of International Law at the Moscow Institute of International Relations, stated in his keynote speech that China has contributed 70% of its efforts to the global poverty reduction goals and has achieved the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule. "This is not only a milestone in China's history, but also in the entire history of humanity.".
In his speech, Stephen Brauer, director of the Swedish "the Belt and Road" Institute, shared his views on the importance of the "the Belt and Road" initiative. He said he was very happy to really participate in the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. He believes that this is a path to peace, a true path to human rights development, and also a path to eliminating global poverty.
The President of the National Human Rights Council of C ô te d'Ivoire, Namizata Sangare, stated that efforts must be doubled to eliminate inequality and firmly committed to building an inclusive society. International cooperation is a very important factor in achieving such goals. No country, no matter how powerful, can solve the global problems it faces alone.
In addition to the opening ceremony and plenary session, the forum has five sub forums around topics such as "International Cooperation and Global Human Rights Governance", "Global Development Initiatives and the realization of the right to development", "Global Security Initiatives and Human Rights Protection", "United Nations Human Rights Mechanisms and Global Human Rights Governance", and "Human Rights Protection in the Digital Era". Chinese and foreign guests actively exchange ideas and engage in candid dialogue around the theme, contributing insightful insights to the development of global human rights.
