Fine!, Crossing the road in Xiamen and bowing down to "brush your phone", starting from August 1st, your phone | zebra crossing | road
It is not uncommon to look down at your phone while crossing a zebra crossing. Crossing the road in this way is not only unsafe, but may also hinder traffic. Recently, Xiamen, Fujian Province passed the "Regulations on Traffic Safety Management of Zebra Crossings in Xiamen Special Economic Zone". Starting from August 1st, individuals who "swipe their phones" across zebra crossings in Xiamen will face punishment.
In response to the prominent uncivilized behaviors such as "brushing mobile phones" on zebra crossings, this regulation clearly stipulates that pedestrians passing through zebra crossings should pass within the zebra crossing as soon as possible, and are not allowed to sit, lie, stay, play, browse electronic devices, or engage in other activities that affect traffic safety. Those who violate this regulation and obstruct the legal passage of vehicles will be warned or fined 50 yuan.
Data shows that there are nearly 2800 zebra crossings in Xiamen, and traffic accidents occurring on these crossings account for nearly 20% of all traffic accidents in the city. In order to improve the governance efficiency of zebra crossing safety management, this regulation also encourages the public to participate in zebra crossing traffic safety management together and conduct social supervision on uncivilized behavior.

Wu Tao, Vice Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Xiamen Municipal People's Congress: We emphasize the importance of road traffic management, as well as the establishment, maintenance, and adjustment of zebra crossings. We should fully listen to the opinions of all sectors of society. Relevant departments should establish a mechanism for feedback, summarization, and argumentation of opinions, to ensure that road traffic safety management can truly reflect the demands of the people and meet their needs.
