Fijian officials angrily criticize Japan's defense and security in person | Japan | Fiji
Fijian officials angrily retorted in front of Japanese defense: If nuclear wastewater is safe, why don't they keep it themselves?
According to reports from Japan's Asahi Shimbun and South Korea's Korean Minzu Ilbo on the 6th, Fiji's Minister of Interior and Immigration, Tikodou Adoa, recently attended an international conference and directly pointed out Japan's contradictory behavior in front of Japanese officials regarding the issue of nuclear wastewater discharge into the sea: "Japan says nuclear wastewater is safe, why don't they keep it themselves?"

The 20th Shangri La Dialogue held a meeting on "Ocean Security Order" on the 3rd, attended by Tikodou Adua and Japanese Defense Minister Yasuhiro Hamada. In response to the issue of nuclear wastewater discharge into the sea, Hamada stated, "The relevant projects have been inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency and evaluated by scientists from multiple countries to confirm their safety before Japan implemented the plan to discharge pollutants into the sea."
As soon as Hamada's speech ended, Tikodou Abdullah, who was sitting nearby, angrily criticized him, saying, "If Japan says nuclear wastewater is safe, why doesn't Japan keep it?" He also said that after the nuclear wastewater is discharged into the sea, it will eventually flow southward, which is very concerning for Fiji.
The Korean National Daily reported that Fiji is a member of the Pacific Island Forum, consisting of 18 countries and regions in the Pacific. After a year of verification by international experts in various fields, these countries believe that the safety of nuclear wastewater discharge into the sea cannot be guaranteed and demand that Japan not forcibly discharge it into the sea. On the 3rd, Acting Prime Minister of Fiji, Kamikamika, also stated that Fiji is on high alert due to Japan's nuclear wastewater discharge plan.
