Exploring the Chengdu Universiade Main Media Center - Not Just Working Journalists Here | Media | Chengdu Universiade Main Media Center
The opening of the Chengdu Universiade is approaching, and the main media center will be the "headquarters" for media reporters and the "main hub" for news information, providing them with various facilities and services such as office, language, transportation, catering, technology, and commercial facilities required for event reporting. A large number of news reports will spread from here to the world, allowing more people to know and understand the Chengdu Universiade.
In accordance with the requirements of "simplicity, safety, and excitement" in organizing the competition, the main media center is composed of the main news center and the international broadcasting center, optimizing the layout of the two centers, saving space, and greatly reducing the operating costs and energy consumption of the venue during the competition. Among them, floors 1-3 are the main news center, floors 4-5 are the international broadcasting center, and floors 6 are the photography and video platform.
The main press center mainly includes media workroom, press release hall, media interview room and other areas. The media workroom is clean and bright, and its hardware facilities are in line with the Beijing Winter Olympics. It provides media reporters with services such as office work, competition information inquiry, locker rental, and data printing. The workshop is equipped with an LED screen and a TV, which allows for real-time viewing of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as live broadcast signals of competitions. The workshop also provides necessary information such as daily weather, transportation, catering, competition schedules, and press conferences, making it convenient for media reporters to work and travel.
The International Broadcasting Center is a venue for the collection, production, and distribution of broadcasting and television signals for the Universiade, providing broadcasting services to over 20 overseas licensed broadcasters and 35 domestic licensed broadcasters. The television public signals for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Universiade and various competition events are distributed globally from here. In the main area of the first floor of MPC - the press conference hall, there are two rooms, one large and one small, namely the Panda Hall and the Ginkgo Hall. According to Deng Fei, a staff member, the Panda Hall can accommodate about 220 people at the same time, and is equipped with simultaneous interpretation rooms to provide simultaneous interpreting language interpretation services. Daily routine press conferences and competition related press conferences will be held here. During the competition, there will also be a 24-hour service desk available here.
In order to showcase more traditional culture of Sichuan and even China to media reporters, MMC has set up a variety of intangible cultural heritage experience activities on the second floor open-air square, such as Sichuan Opera performances, New Year paintings, sugar paintings, oil paper umbrellas, and eight section brocade performances. During the pre match and mid match stages, MMC will also hold outdoor concerts, creative markets, and pot throwing competitions on its outdoor lawn.
On the second floor, MMC has set up some sports and leisure projects indoors in order to provide journalists with a relaxed working environment. During the visit, the reporter saw bicycles, mountain bikes, ski bikes, and other available gaming and audio equipment.
It is understood that MMC has a total construction area of approximately 45000 square meters. After the end of the Universiade, MMC will transform into the Dong'an Lake Library, serving the cultural life of the general public.
