On the Tianfu Greenway next to Dong'an Lake Sports Park, citizens can enjoy the fun of sports by cycling or running; On both sides of the street, green plants and flowers are thriving, and various art sculptures are refreshing; Many tourists are enjoying Chengdu and embarking on a creative journey of "watching the Universiade and showcasing Chengdu"
The hosting of the Universiade not only enhances the city's ability to host competitions, enhances the urban sports atmosphere, but also promotes the continuous optimization of the urban environment. Taking the Chengdu Universiade as an opportunity, the millennium old Chengdu is full of development vitality.
Strong sports atmosphere
Running, playing ball, aerobics, Tai Chi... In the Shahe Ecological Corridor of Chenghua District, Chengdu, the lush riverside walkway has become a good place for citizens to relax and exercise. Holding a racket and accompanied by lively music, social sports instructor Liu Jin is guiding citizens to practice softball. I saw them either stepping and turning, or dancing gracefully, rolling small balls flying up and down, and bouncing back and forth, as if the racket and ball were integrated.
Citizen Zhang Youzhen fell in love with softball shortly after practicing it. "Sports not only make my body healthier, but also make my later years more colorful."
Sports activities such as dance, table tennis, basketball, roller skating, and fitness exercises are also popular among citizens. Fitness spaces such as parks, squares, and green spaces have the presence of social sports instructors. Since the preparation for the Universiade, Chengdu has promoted the full coverage of social sports instructors throughout the city, with over 50000 social sports instructors distributed in various street communities, guiding citizens to carry out scientific fitness exercises.
"One, two, three, four, keep up with the rhythm." In the dance rehearsal room of the Jinniu District Cultural Center in Chengdu, Wang Jie, the leader of the Fuqin Art Troupe, and his team members often rehearse the dance together. After becoming a social sports instructor, Wang Jie had a full schedule of work every day, guiding students at training centers in the morning and attending classes at senior universities in the afternoon. "The changes brought by the Universiade to cities are obvious, and the sports atmosphere around them is becoming stronger and stronger." Wang Jie said that as long as someone is willing to learn, he will persist in teaching.
Chengdu focuses on venues benefiting the people and optimizes public sports and cultural services. "We have utilized public sports venues such as the Shuangliu Sports Center and the Modern Pentathlon Event Center to open to the public for free or at a low cost throughout the year, benefiting more than 680000 people," said Xue Yan, Deputy District Mayor of Shuangliu District, Chengdu. In order to better integrate sports into the daily lives of citizens, Chengdu has established a three-level fitness circle, and carries out approximately 5000 national fitness activities annually, including the "Tianfu Greenway Health Tour", "Community Sports Festival", and "Rural Sports Festival".

Urban environmental improvement
Entering Yulin East Road in Wuhou District, Chengdu, the characteristic block has become a scenic spot of the Universiade.
Established in the 1980s, Yulin Special District is a famous living circle and food gathering place in Chengdu. With the arrival of the Universiade, surrounding streets including Yulin East Road have also undergone a transformation. On the basis of preserving and utilizing existing buildings and maintaining the layout of the old city, Yulin East Road continues the unique style of the urban area and showcases a unique charm.
Deng Chao, who has been operating a clothing store on Yulin East Road for nearly 30 years, exclaimed, "Yulin is now more beautiful and comfortable."
In the process of preparing for the Chengdu Universiade, Chengdu has promoted the implementation of the Ten Major Projects for a Happy and Better Life, promoted urban renewal and the renovation of old residential areas, and improved the quality of life for citizens. The overall goal of Chengdu is to focus on the high-quality construction and implementation of the new development concept in the park city demonstration area. Chengdu will carry out environmental improvement projects such as old residential areas, back streets and alleys, and agricultural markets, making the city shine both inside and outside. "Up to now, integrated zoning has been carried out to promote the renovation of back streets and alleys, the creation of characteristic blocks, 1255 community micro renewal projects have been implemented, 3257 back streets and alleys have been renovated, and 132 characteristic blocks have been created." said Xiang Jin, the person in charge of the Chengdu Development and Reform Commission.
The Southwest Street area of Jinniu District, Chengdu City is adjacent to the First Ring Road and consists of 90 courtyards. Due to the relatively old construction period, the houses in the area are old and lack supporting facilities, resulting in a low quality of life for residents. Since the promotion of block renovation, the area has undergone significant changes. "The community has added monitoring equipment, fitness equipment and parking spaces, and planted osmanthus flowers in the green belt. The previously bumpy roads have become spacious and flat, and many old neighbors who have moved have also moved back one after another." Liu Guiying, a resident who has lived in the Southwest Street area for nearly 40 years, said that the appearance of the street area has increased, and life has become more convenient.
To promote citizens to enjoy high-quality living, Chengdu has also improved the overall environmental quality of the city by creating "beautiful neighborhoods". As of now, a total of 57.12 million square meters of new green space have been added, with a green space rate of 38.54% in built-up areas, a green coverage rate of 44.61%, and a per capita park green space area of 12.24 square meters, forming 13 beautiful blocks for the Universiade.
Rich cultural activities
Go to Du Fu Thatched Cottage to learn about the life of the poet, marvel at the mystery of the sun bird gold ornaments in the Jinsha Site Museum, and pay homage to the wisdom of the ancients more than 2000 years ago in Dujiangyan Irrigation Project... Liao Jian, who participated in the creative copywriting work of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Chengdu Universiade, marveled at the local cultural atmosphere, "We have incorporated many Sichuan elements and traditional cultural elements when writing the opening ceremony copywriting, but seeing is better than hearing, and the trip to Chengdu is amazing."
During the Universiade, Chengdu held multiple cultural exchange and experiential activities to create an atmosphere of competition and showcase the charm of the city. On the evening of July 29th, an athlete's gathering with the theme of "Youth In Time" was successfully held in the Universiade Village. At the event site, both the popular dance drama "The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting" was staged brilliantly, and the Chengdu Universiade volunteer song "Song of Little Green Peppers" led the exchange and interaction between athletes and volunteers.
Pinching the embroidery needle and gently piercing through the silk, several foreign athletes enthusiastically experienced Sichuan embroidery. "Athletes are very interested in Chengdu's characteristic intangible cultural heritage such as Sichuan embroidery and bamboo weaving," said Guan Wenjun, the head of the Dayun Village News Release Hall. From July 29th to August 7th, the Interactive Experience Center of Dayun Village holds multiple intangible cultural heritage skills experience activities every day, and Dayun Village has also become a window to showcase the charm of Chengdu's historical and cultural city.
During the Universiade, there was a constant stream of citizens and tourists in front of the "Red Collar Life" Party and Mass Service Station on the Chengdu Metro. The People's Daily Digital Communication Company collaborated with Chengdu Rail Transit Group to hold the "Green Youth Low Carbon Universiade - Check in Universiade Torch" event. Check in front of the camera on the newspaper reading column, and a photo of holding the Universiade torch will be automatically generated. The interesting interaction attracts many citizens to participate.
The shimmering waves shimmer, and the neon lights of Jinjiang shine brightly under the night sky. Tourists go boating on the Jinjiang River, and the patrol system safeguards safe travel. The Jinjiang District Branch of Chengdu Public Security Bureau has created a "safety post" for the Universiade that integrates emergency response, public security prevention, convenient services, and legal publicity. It has implemented grid based police deployment and stacked patrols to make people's lives more secure.
The preparation and hosting of the Chengdu Universiade have received praise from people. "I am proud and proud of Chengdu," said citizen Feng Rouxing, hoping that everyone will like Chengdu. Portuguese sports journalist Thomas Barrison, who participated in the event reporting for the first time in China, exclaimed that the organizing work of the Chengdu Universiade was excellent and the cultural atmosphere was strong. What impressed Barrison the most was the audience on the field. "The audience was enthusiastic and friendly, and no matter which delegation the athletes on the field came from, people would applaud and cheer for their outstanding performance. This atmosphere is touching."
