Experience the traditional Chinese medicine treatment in the Chengdu Universiade Village. Foreign athletes exclaim, "It's amazing!"! Acupuncture and moxibustion | Traditional Chinese Medicine | Chengdu
On August 4th, China Daily reported that the traditional Chinese medicine cultural area in Chengdu Dayun Village is a popular spot for participating delegations to check in. From pulse sensing to rehabilitation care, traditional Chinese medicine experts use various methods to ensure that athletes maintain their optimal state. At the same time, athletes can also read ancient Chinese medicine books here and immerse themselves wholeheartedly in the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine.
Hungarian athlete Anna Polz experienced a traditional Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis here and consulted a doctor about her diarrhea, shoulder and waist pain, and other issues. The doctor advised her not to eat raw and cold food while applying heat to her stomach during her menstrual period, and pointed out that her dietary habits may have caused her discomfort.
"This is really interesting," Poltz said. "It's very different from European culture and medicine, but I believe it. I know it's really good."“
In addition to traditional Chinese medicine pulse sensing, athletes can also personally apply medicine and make their own herbal sachets.
It is reported that in order to promote the culture of traditional Chinese medicine, the Chengdu Health Commission commissioned local animators to create a cartoon animation with the theme of traditional Chinese medicine, starring Rongbao, the mascot of this year's Universiade. The animation is characterized by lively cartoon characters and perfectly integrates the ancient wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Through attractive visual effects, young college students around the world have the opportunity to deeply understand traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, massage, cupping and other traditional Chinese medicine knowledge.
In order to help athletes recover and maintain their health after the competition, the Dayun Village Medical Center also invited about 20 professional orthopedic doctors in sports medicine. Athletes from all countries can enjoy traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation services such as massage, acupuncture and moxibustion and cupping.
Bangladesh athlete Rehan Mohammad Jahir has been to China for the first time, but he is now a regular customer of traditional Chinese medicine services in Dayun Village.
Jahir said, "My hamstrings and calf muscles are a bit painful, so I came to the medical center." After the doctor did massage and rehabilitation exercises for him, he felt much better.
Liu Xihui, the chief TCM physician in the Sports Medicine Department of Sichuan Provincial Orthopaedic Hospital, said, "We provide a series of traditional Chinese massage services, especially the traditional techniques handed down from generation to generation. In addition, we also use the 'Zheng's' classic acupoints to improve the treatment experience. We will also provide athletes with special cupping treatment, as well as traditional acupuncture and moxibustion and some traditional orthopaedics and other fields of treatment."
