Among them, Zhejiang Province recently became the fifth province in China with a total market operating entity exceeding 10 million households. Data shows that in Zhejiang, one out of every seven people is a boss.

Over 1 million market entities in Yiwu

According to Zhejiang media reports, at 9:00 am on August 16th, Yiwu became the first county in Zhejiang Province to have a registered market entity exceeding one million. The number of registered market entities accounted for one tenth of the province and five thousandths of the country, ranking second in the country.

According to Tang Hairu, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee of the Hangzhou Planning Committee, Yiwu is the capital of small commodities with a complete range of products and a wide coverage. As a result, there are more individual businesses and enterprises in Yiwu. In recent years, Yiwu has actively transitioned towards e-commerce, with a prominent number of express deliveries and direct e-commerce broadcasts.

According to data, there are currently 556900 e-commerce operators in Yiwu, accounting for one-third of the province's e-commerce operators. In 2022, Yiwu achieved an e-commerce transaction volume of 390.728 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, including an e-commerce domestic trade transaction volume of 282.378 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%; The cross-border e-commerce transaction volume was 108.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. The city's online retail sales reached 227.228 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%, ranking first among all counties in the province for six consecutive years.

According to recent data released by the National Postal Administration, the number of express deliveries in Jinhua City reached 7.217 billion from January to July this year, continuing to rank first. Among them, the proportion of Yiwu express delivery to Jinhua is very high.

Tang Hairu believes that in the long-term development process, Yiwu has found its unique industrial advantages, mainly focusing on small commodities for development. The coverage of small commodities is relatively strong, not only nationwide, but also globally. The improvement of its level has gathered a large number of merchants.

In contrast to the small commodity capital, the "ant army" has become the backbone of the market entities in Yiwu. As of now, the total number of individual industrial and commercial households in Yiwu has reached 718200, exceeding 70% of the total number of market operators.

On the basis of gathering a large number of market entities, Yiwu's per capita income level continues to rank first in the county. According to a survey of integrated urban-rural households, the per capita disposable income of all residents in Yiwu City in 2022 was 78215 yuan, an increase of 1.0%, surpassing the three major first tier cities of Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, second only to Shanghai.

From a county level perspective, Yiwu is the second county in China with a market entity exceeding one million households. Prior to Yiwu, in March 2021, Kunshan, the county with the highest GDP, became the first county-level city in China with a market entity exceeding 1 million.

Over 10 million market entities in 5 provinces

Before the market entities in Yiwu exceeded 1 million households, on August 10th of this year, the total number of market operating entities in Zhejiang Province, where Yiwu is located, exceeded 10 million households, a year-on-year increase of 11.21%, making it the fifth province in China with a total number of market operating entities exceeding 10 million households. Data shows that in Zhejiang, one in every seven people is a boss, and one in every 19 people is a company.

As one of the provinces with the most developed private economy, out of the 10 million market operating entities in Zhejiang Province, the number of private operating entities reached 9.67 million, accounting for 96.69%.

Tang Hairu said that Zhejiang has many mountains and relatively few plains, and many people go to various places for business. There are also many people opening workshops and factories, making Zhejiang a province with a highly developed private economy. After sufficient market competition, almost every county in Zhejiang has formed a unique industrial chain and leading industry direction.

Including Zhejiang, the number of market entities in 5 provinces has exceeded 10 million households. On July 13th this year, the press conference on the "Outline of Building a Quality Strong Province in Guangdong Province" was held in Guangzhou. It is understood that the number of operating entities in the Guangdong market has reached 17.25 million, accounting for 1/10 of the national total. Guangdong has consistently ranked first in the country in terms of the number of business entities, enterprises, and foreign-invested enterprises for many years.

After Guangdong, the number of market entities in the second largest economic province Jiangsu and the third largest economic province Shandong both exceeded 14 million. As of the end of June this year, Jiangsu Province had 14.447 million households of various business entities, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%, and the total amount remained high and steadily increasing; In the first half of the year, there were 936000 newly registered business entities in the province, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%, indicating a good growth trend.

In 2022, Shandong Province registered 2.209 million new market entities, with 14.045 million of various market entities at the end of the year, an increase of 5.8% compared to the end of the previous year.

In addition, Henan is a province where the number of market entities has exceeded 10 million households. On December 8, 2022, the Henan Provincial Administration for Market Regulation released relevant data: there were 1.045 million market entities in the province, an increase of 1.692 million households from 8.553 million households at the end of 2021, an increase of 19.8%.
