On the evening of the 15th, the rumor of "Xu Jiayin's divorce" spread on social media, and the reason for the speculation was that in the latest Evergrande announcement disclosed by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Xu Jiayin's wife, Ding Yumei, was referred to as a "third party independent of the company and its affiliates" and was not generally listed as Xu Jiayin's spouse as before.
Due to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's definition of spouse as the contact person of a listed company's main director, CEO, or major shareholder, certain related party transaction regulations must be followed.
According to the listing rules of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, as Xu Jiayin is a controlling shareholder and executive director of China Evergrande, and the largest shareholder of Evergrande, Xin Xin, is wholly owned by Xu Jiayin, Xu Jiayin is a related party. If Xu Jiayin were Ding Yumei's spouse, Ding Yumei should be defined as the "contact person" of a "connected person," and therefore considered a "connected person.".
Evergrande announced that Ding Yumei is an independent third party of the company and its affiliates, holding 791 million or 5.99% of Evergrande's shares, so Ding Yumei is not a major shareholder.

In previous announcements, she was directly referred to as Mrs. Xu.
Industry insiders say that legally, they may no longer be married, otherwise such disclosure would not have been cleared by lawyers.
So if we really divorce, is it to avoid the huge debt problem of Evergrande? Legal professionals say that even if divorced, the common debts incurred during marriage still need to be repaid together, and divorce cannot achieve the goal of separating personal debts from the common debts of the couple.
According to Shanghai Securities News, Evergrande responded by saying, "I'm not sure, there's no news."
