On the 3rd, the European Union launched a new round of sanctions against Belarus, targeting 38 individuals and 3 entities, and prohibiting the export of firearms, their parts, and ammunition to Belarus.
According to the announcement released by the European Council on the same day, the EU has imposed sanctions on officials from the prison management, publicity, justice and other departments in Belarus, as well as entities such as the Belarusian State Petrochemical Company Konzen. The assets of the sanctioned individuals within the jurisdiction of the EU are frozen, their entry into the EU is prohibited, and citizens and entities of EU member states are prohibited from providing them with funds.
At the same time, the European Union has implemented a series of export bans on Belarus, including banning the export of firearms, their parts and ammunition, prohibiting the export of aerospace products and technologies such as aviation engines and drones, further tightening the export of semiconductor equipment, integrated circuits, cameras, optical components and other products, and extending the export ban on dual-use products and technologies.
Since 2004, the European Union has imposed sanctions on individuals and entities in Belarus; In 2011, after accusing Belarus of "cheating" in the presidential election and causing the situation to "worsen," an arms embargo was imposed on Belarus; After the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in 2022, the European Union has repeatedly imposed additional sanctions on Belarus. According to the announcement on the 3rd, a total of 233 individuals and 37 entities in Belarus have been listed as sanctioned by the European Union so far.
