Looking at the red and wet places at dawn, the flowers are heavy in the city of Jinguan. Chengdu is a city that has been moistened by poetry. Since ancient times, poets have all entered Sichuan, and a region of soil and water nourishes a region of culture. With the various competitions of the Chengdu Universiade in full swing, this ancient and modern historical and cultural city of Chengdu is constantly refreshing and subverting people's impressions of it with its unique charm. When ancient civilization collides with modern fashion, and thousands of ancient poems flow into the bustling city of Chengdu, the Universiade provides us with more opportunities to experience the cultural development and historical heritage of Chengdu. Follow the reporter from the headquarters and take a walk on the streets of Chengdu together.
CCTV reporter Jiang Lin: The Tianfu Humanities and Arts Library is located in the Tianfu Art Park to the west of Chengdu. The design inspiration for this architectural complex comes from Du Fu's quatrain "Window contains the snow of the Western Ridge for a thousand autumn". After entering the library, the first thing that moved us was the open reading space. Its design inspiration comes from Han Yu's book mountain, which has a path of diligence and covers an area of 32000 square meters, with a planned collection of 800000 books. On June 1st of this year, the opening hours of Tianfu Humanities and Arts Library were extended every day. Weekdays are from 9am to 10pm every day, while weekends are from 9pm to 11pm every day. The director told us that in fact, public libraries also need to change with modern lifestyles and reading methods. For example, during more time periods throughout the day, as long as you can come to the library and find the book that belongs to you, you can open up your own world. This also makes the Tianfu Humanities and Arts Library the longest open public library in the country every week.
I left the Tianfu Humanities and Arts Library and arrived at the Xue Tao Memorial Hall located in Wangjianglou Park. Both of these are stops on the urban civilization exchange route recommended by Chengdu to athletes and coaches from various countries during the Universiade. In addition to introducing Xue Tao's life and his poetry, the Xue Tao Memorial Hall is also a mini memorial hall for the history of Chengdu city. Here you can see that during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in 311 BC, Zhang Yi and Zhang Ruo built the city of Chengdu. Since then, the name of Chengdu has never changed. Although Chengdu in history is located in the southwest of China, it has a land of abundance, with dazzling Sichuan brocade and embroidery, as well as many cultural traces left by literati and literati.

In the poetry and literature related to Chengdu now, there is a place name frequently mentioned, called Mahachi. Xue Tao, Du Fu, and Lu You have left their works here. But this name has become somewhat unfamiliar to people in Chengdu for many years, but with a recent archaeological discovery, it has once again returned to our lives.
The former Chengdu Sports Center was excavated multiple times from 2013 to 2018, and the ruins of the Ming Dynasty Shu Palace and the ancient Maha Pool have been found here. The preliminary excavation work has been basically completed, and in the future, a historical and scenic facility will be built at the location of the Chengdu Sports Center, with a focus on site protection. A distance of 100 meters is the site of the Ming Dynasty Shu Palace Waterway. Now it has been opened to the public as part of the Donghuamen Site Park and has become a place for more friends from other places to experience the imprint of old Chengdu during the Universiade. Standing here and seeing the modern high-rise buildings standing nearby, one can more deeply feel the historical relics, cultural relics, and cultural heritage of a city, which are a part of the city's life.

The Universiade has pushed Chengdu to the world and also brought the world to Chengdu. Chengdu, with a history of over 2300 years, has enough confidence to host this international large-scale sports event. This confidence comes from Chengdu's excellent heritage and rapid development in recent years, its unique urban characteristics of advocating sports, and Chengdu's unremitting pursuit of addressing challenges and promoting sustainable and healthy development. When the Universiade meets Chengdu and youth encounters opportunities, infinite possibilities will surely brew.
