Faced with complex domestic and international situations and heavy tasks of reform, development, and stability, Party members and cadres must shoulder their mission and complete tasks well. Whether the major decisions and deployments made at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China can be put into action and seen in their effectiveness, whether they can overcome the risks and challenges on the road to progress, and whether they can truly serve the people, all reflect the level of political ability.
When listening to the work reports of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward clear requirements for learning to increase wisdom from three aspects: improving political ability, thinking ability, and practical ability. With regard to improving political ability, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed: "be good at thinking, making decisions, and doing things from the standpoint of the party and the people and the overall situation of the work of the party and the state." be good at grasping the regularity of things from complex problems, find the trend of things from emerging problems, understand the inevitability of things from accidental problems, be good at managing complex situations, gathering social forces, and preventing political risks, we should earnestly shoulder the political responsibilities entrusted by the party and the people, and truly become a political wise man." Stressing politics with a clear-cut stand is not only a distinctive feature of a Marxist party, but also a consistent advantage of our party. Only when party members and cadres have strong political ability, stand firm in political position, firmly grasp political direction, adhere to political principles, and consciously maintain a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core in ideological and political actions, can they "not be afraid of floating clouds and cover their eyes" and "fly across the clouds calmly", so as to observe and analyze the situation, grasp political factors, plan and promote work to implement political requirements. Deal with and solve problems to prevent political risks.
The one who gains the greater can balance the smaller. Improving political ability is first reflected in whether one is good at thinking, making decisions, and handling matters from the perspective of the Party and the people, as well as the overall work of the Party and the state. Focusing closely on the central task of the Party in the new era and new journey, enhancing the overall concept, being good at thinking about fundamental, global, and long-term issues, strengthening strategic, systematic, and forward-looking research and planning, adapting to local conditions and times, and creatively carrying out work, truly making the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee effective.
One important aspect of political ability is the ability to analyze and solve problems from a political perspective. Comrade Mao Zedong pointed out that "problems are the contradictions of things. Wherever there is an unresolved contradiction, there is a problem." Complex problems, early problems, and occasional problems are all concrete forms of problems, with different types of contradictions hidden behind them. Only by grasping the regularity of things from complex problems, discovering the trend of things from early problems, and understanding the inevitability of things from accidental problems can we see the essence and grasp the fundamental solution to problems.
Currently, China's development is facing unprecedented risks and challenges, including both domestic and international ones, as well as those from the fields of politics, economy, culture, society, and nature. There are both traditional and non-traditional ones, and various "black swan" and "gray rhinoceros" events may occur at any time. To enhance political ability, one must be adept at managing complex situations, consolidating social forces, and preventing political risks.
