On August 14th local time, the Armenian Ministry of Defense denied any claims of assembling troops in the border area between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Armenia has no military presence in the Nagorno Karabakh region, and Azerbaijan's statement is not in line with the facts. Earlier on August 14th, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense stated that the Armenian army had opened fire on the Azerbaijani army in the border area.
The Naqa region is located in the southwest of Azerbaijan, and its residents are mostly Armenians. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, war broke out between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the issue of Naka ownership. The two countries reached an agreement on a comprehensive ceasefire in 1994, but have been in a hostile state due to the Naqa issue, with occasional conflicts.
