Typhoon "Kanu" is heading north northeast

According to the forecast from the Central Meteorological Observatory, starting from the daytime of the 10th, the peripheral cloud system of Typhoon Kanu, the 6th typhoon of this year, will begin to affect the border between Jilin and Heilongjiang in China. The main rainfall period is from the night of the 10th to the day of the 12th, with a maximum cumulative rainfall of 120 to 180 millimeters.

At present, "Kanu" continues to move towards the northwest direction at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour, with little change in intensity. It is expected that "Kanu" will make landfall along the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula on the morning of the 10th, with a strength of a strong tropical storm at the time of landfall, and its strength will gradually weaken after landfall.

Affected by the wind and rain brought by "Kanu", it is expected that heavy rain will generally occur in most parts of Heilongjiang, eastern Jilin and other places, and heavy rainstorm will occur locally.

Data shows that since late July, the Northeast region has experienced heavy rainfall. The rainfall in most parts of Heilongjiang, western Jilin, and southern Liaoning is 30% to 80% more than that in the same period of the year, and the rainfall in some parts of southeast Heilongjiang, northern Jilin, and western Jilin is more than twice as much as that in the same period of the year. As a result, several rivers have been hit by excessive flood. Shulan, Jilin, Wuchang, Shangzhi, and other places in Heilongjiang have suffered from rainstorm and flood disasters.

Experts suggest that since this rainfall area is highly overlapped with the area where rainstorm and flood disasters occurred in the northeast in the previous period, it is necessary to be alert to the superposition effect of rainstorm. It is recommended to prepare in advance for prevention and response to floods, mountain floods, geological disasters, and urban and rural waterlogging in small and medium-sized rivers. At the same time, it is expected that some areas of farmland in the central and eastern parts of Heilongjiang and eastern Jilin will have a higher risk level of waterlogging disasters, which will have adverse effects on the growth and development of crops such as spring corn, soybeans, and potatoes.
