Duterte Warning: This may make the Philippines a "graveyard". United States | Philippines | Cemetery
According to the website of the Star Spangled Banner on the 29th, former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned that the US military base agreement will make the Philippines a target of war.
During his tenure, Duterte criticized the 2014 Philippine US enhanced defense cooperation agreement. The agreement grants the US military the right to operate from bases located on the Philippine island. After Marcos was elected as the President of the Philippines last year, the relationship between the Philippines and the United States has improved. In February of this year, Philippine officials added four new locations on top of the five mentioned in the initial open base agreement with the United States.
However, according to the Manila Gazette on the 28th, Duterte stated that there are 17 bases in the agreement.

According to the report, Duterte said, "For the public's right to know, there should be open discussions. Americans should tell the truth, give us a true account, account or explanation, and confirm the location of their base in the Philippines."
Duterte said that if the United States takes risks to maintain its hegemonic position, the result may be retaliatory actions against the Philippines.
He said, "There are 'anti missile' missiles at a relatively long distance. You can shoot them down before they enter your airspace. The question is, in the Philippines, what are our bets? Nothing. That's not just destructive. I think if war breaks out, the Philippines will become a graveyard."
