Due tomorrow! Putin's latest statement: The main goals of the agreement have not been achieved by the country | Food | Putin
According to Agence France Presse, Russian President Putin had a phone call with South African President Ramaphosa on July 15th, stating that the main goals of the Black Sea food export agreement have not been achieved.
According to reports, the Kremlin issued a statement stating that Putin stated during a phone call, "The main goal of the agreement - to supply food to countries in need, including the African continent - has not been achieved."
Putin emphasized that "the obligations stipulated in the memorandum between Russia and the United Nations on eliminating obstacles to Russia's food and fertilizer exports have not been fulfilled so far.".
The report mentioned that President Erdogan of Türkiye said on July 14 that he had talked with Putin and was sure that Putin would agree to extend the validity of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Erdogan told the report that Russian President's press secretary Peskov did not confirm Erdogan's statement. He said, "Regarding this issue, the Russian side has not issued a statement."
In addition, the Russian Sputnik News Agency reported on July 15 that the United Nations Coordination Center announced that poor countries and countries with lower than average incomes have received very limited food under the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, with corn accounting for only 10% of total exports and wheat 40%.
The United Nations Coordination Center acknowledges that 90% of corn and 60% of wheat are shipped to developed countries and countries with incomes higher than average; Poor countries and countries with incomes below the average receive only 10% of their total exports of corn and 40% of their wheat.
The center points out that compared to the data from 2017 to 2021, the Black Sea Grain Initiative's exports to poor countries are on par with Ukraine's earlier trade share, but its food supply to developed countries has significantly increased.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative will expire on July 17th.
