Drug prices skyrocket, 2022 China Drug Situation Report: Non contact Drug Trafficking Model Highlights Trading | Activities | Trafficking | Decline | Cracking | Epidemic Prevention and Control | Drug Trafficking | Drugs
The non-contact drug trafficking model is prominent. On June 21st, the Ministry of Public Security announced the new achievements of drug control work and released the "2022 China Drug Situation Report".
According to the report, under the condition of epidemic prevention and control, more and more lawbreakers are connected through the Internet. They use argot and argot in communication, and pay the transaction funds online, with no one at either end of the transaction.
As for drug trafficking, the report shows that in 2022, the public security organs will crack 270000 cases of smuggling, trafficking and transportation of drugs, seize 41000 suspect, and pay 10 tons of drugs, down 29.9%, 31.7% and 29.3% year on year respectively. Due to various restrictions such as epidemic prevention and control, border closures, and the nationwide anti drug department's special operation to clean up sources and cut off traffic, drug smuggling and trafficking activities have significantly decreased. Drug traffickers are constantly changing their drug transportation channels, hiding methods, and trafficking methods, often using drug trafficking models that are less affected by the epidemic and have a lower risk of being caught.
Specifically, firstly, drug trafficking channels are mainly by land. Throughout the year, a total of 20000 land drug trafficking cases were cracked and 7 tons of drugs were seized, a year-on-year decrease of 28.1% and 49.3%, accounting for 74.1% and 68.6% of the total, respectively. 2103 cases of postal drug trafficking were cracked, and 1.5 tons of drugs were seized, a year-on-year decrease of 43.8% and 57.1%, accounting for 7.8% and 14.3% of the total, respectively. The problem of smuggling bulk drugs by sea is prominent, with a total of 1.1 tons of drugs seized, accounting for 0.8%.
Secondly, cross regional drug trafficking activities have decreased. The epidemic prevention and control has restricted cross-border and cross regional activities, resulting in a decrease in the number of foreign personnel engaged in drug trafficking in China and domestic cross provincial drug trafficking activities. A total of 141 foreign drug trafficking suspects were arrested throughout the year, a year-on-year decrease of 47%; 4543 cross provincial drug trafficking cases were cracked, a year-on-year decrease of 34.7%; 6626 drug traffickers were arrested, a year-on-year decrease of 30.7%
Thirdly, the non-contact drug trafficking model is prominent. In the whole year, 2761 cases involving Internet drug trafficking were uncovered, 1.2 tons of drugs were seized, with a year-on-year increase of 119%. Under the condition of epidemic prevention and control, more and more lawbreakers connect via the Internet, release drug-related information through the mass network platform, use small social software to group communication, use argot and argot in communication, "burn after reading" chat records, and use virtual currency and game currency to pay online for transaction funds: professional drug transport organizations and logistics trucks are employed for delivery, or mail package delivery, local express delivery, "mine burying" and other means are used for delivery, and no one is seen at both ends of the transaction.
Fourthly, drug prices continue to soar. Affected by a significant decrease in supply and certain obstacles in drug sales and trafficking channels, the national average retail price of three common drugs with high levels of abuse has increased significantly compared to the previous year. Heroin is priced at 1261.1 yuan/g, a year-on-year increase of 31.6%, crystal methamphetamine is priced at 1207 yuan/g, a year-on-year increase of 37%, and ketamine is priced at 794 yuan/g, a year-on-year increase of 67.7%.
