Recently, the annual fun dragon boat race was held in Duisburg, Germany. This year, more than a hundred teams participated, attracting thousands of participants. The Chinese and German people fought the waves with the PaddlePaddle, exchanged views and shared friendship.

Since its introduction to Germany in the late 1980s, dragon boat racing has gained increasing popularity due to its form of unity and cooperation, the spirit of hard work and sports, and the entertainment value of the masses. Since 2000, the city of Duisburg in Germany has held a grand and fun dragon boat race every June. In 2005, this event was also recorded in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest fun dragon boat race.

This year's competition attracted over 3000 participants from approximately 140 participating teams. The Chinese Consulate General in Dusseldorf, along with representatives from the Duisburg Municipal Government, sister city Wuhan Hubei Society, local Chinese funded enterprises, and Chinese schools, made their debut in the competition, competing alongside other dragon boat teams.
German high school student Shamo: It's really lively to have so many people participating. We have learned a lot of knowledge related to the Dragon Boat Festival in our Chinese class, so it feels very friendly to come and observe.
German high school student Bi Cheng: The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, and holding a dragon boat race here has made me feel the friendly cooperation between the two countries. The "the Belt and Road" initiative has made the logistics between Germany and China more smooth. I think it is very necessary to hold such cultural activities in Duisburg, known as the "China City".
