Dongyi Children's Art Troupe Celebrates "Summer of Art" and Deepens "Social Art Education"
With 3 sets and 5 performances, 5 exhibitions, 3 summer camps, and 6 guidance from masters, nearly 4000 viewers were introduced to the theater to spend this beautiful "summer of art" with nearly 400 young actors. It also attracted nearly 500 children to sign up for auditions... As one of the first batch of "social beauty education" classrooms in Shanghai, Shanghai Oriental Art Center actively creates an "art garden" and promotes the continuous development and growth of Dongyi Children's Art Troupe through rich and colorful summer art education activities. The theater also explores broader and more diverse development spaces through this.
"Summer Dreamers - Dongyi Children's Choir 2023 Summer Concert" under the name of "Dream" by Dongyi Children's Choir; Joining hands with Dongyi Children's Ballet and Children's Street Dance Troupe, integrating diverse dance styles into "Four Seasons Fantasy"; Moving on to the mid year performance festival of Dongyi Youth Music Troupe, the "Modern Music Concert", where three sets and five performances each have their own unique characteristics, connecting the "performance calendar" of Dongyi Children's Art Troupe.
In addition to the performance, the art troupe's subsequent exchange activities were also non-stop. In the fourth "Poly Summer" Shanghai Children's Choir Festival competition, both teams of Dongyi Children's Choir won first prize. On August 25th, the Dongyi Children's Choir performed on stage with the Children's Choir of the National Youth Palace in Sparrow Mountain, Russia. The song "Xuancao Flower" allowed children to cross national borders and culture, sing a common emotion, and received applause from the audience.

The long-awaited overseas musical summer camp has officially returned this summer. More than 40 members of Dongyi Youth Music Troupe followed the teacher who played musicals seriously to London and Edinburgh in batches, embarking on an 11 day "art journey". The members watched performances in the West End of London, toured the University of Oxford, and received guidance from industry professionals at Goldsmith College, University of London. They collaborated with children from different cultural backgrounds to participate in choreography, composition, and script creation, ultimately successfully stepping onto the stage of the Edinburgh International Art Festival. At the same time, Dongyi launched an overseas musical master camp, inviting three senior musical mentors from the UK to conduct a 6-day event for Chinese youth.
In August, the original musicals "Billy the Kid Cowboy Billy" and "Growl", performed by Dongyi Youth Music Troupe and exclusively authorized by the British National Youth Music Troupe, were performed successively at Dongyi and received rave reviews. The two dramas have toured multiple rounds before, and the influence of old members on new members has become the "spiritual inheritance" of Dongyi Art Troupe. At the rehearsal before the performance, there are often former members who appear to cheer for the newcomers. They will bring thoughtful advice from "passersby" and also assist the teacher in putting on makeup for the upcoming members.
In addition to coloring the friendship among members, Dongyi also uses aesthetic education as a medium to enhance interaction between families and schools. On the eve of the start of school, 43 parent-child families walked into Dongyi and met classical music masters in the "Art Enjoyment Space"; Follow the technician's explanation, understand the stage's dance composition, and listen to the creators of the musical "Wolf Howl" sharing interesting stories on stage and behind the scenes; And in the rehearsal hall, share the joy and gains of learning musical dance segments on site.

After the start of the school year, Dongyi Art Education will continue to explore new aesthetic education scenes: in September, it will launch an art experience month for adults, introducing the atmosphere of "morning, day, night, and night" in daily life into art, and accordingly planning four theme experience days: choir, Kunqu opera, contact improvisation, and drama, in the form of workshops. In the future, Dongyi Art Education will further integrate art education resources such as the "Oriental Art Education Alliance", enrich diversified art education fields, and create an "art garden" with scenery at all times.
