Does "high score immigration" squeeze out opportunities for local candidates? Hainan Provincial Examination Bureau responds to the college entrance examination | our province | candidates
Recently, there have been a large number of complaints on the Hainan 12345 hotline website regarding the issue of "college entrance examination immigration", with doubts mainly focused on two points: 1. Two high scoring students from Hainan High School in this year's college entrance examination are suspected to be "college entrance examination immigrants"; 2. This year, the total number of people taking the college entrance examination in the province has exceeded the number of people admitted to the high school entrance examination three years ago, and it is suspected that there are a large number of "college entrance examination immigrants" squeezing the quota.
Many netizens have pointed out that a high scoring candidate from Hainan Middle School, Yu, expressed gratitude to a high school in Zhanjiang for their training in the video. Why can Yu attend high school in Guangdong and then attend high school in Hainan Middle School?
The Hainan Provincial Examination Bureau replied that the registered residence of the examinee and his legal guardian had all moved to our province in compliance with the regulations. The student participated in the provincial high school entrance examination on July 25-27, 2020, was normally admitted to the unified enrollment plan of Hainan Middle School and established a high school registration. His high school has been studying in our high school for three years, and the examinee and his guardian have registered residence in our province for three years. The provincial household examinees who meet the requirements of the Notice of Hainan Provincial Department of Education on Doing a Good Job in the Enrollment Examination for Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Hainan Province in 2023 that "I and my legal guardian have permanent residence in our province for more than three years, have a fixed residence, have a high school registration in our province recognized by the Provincial Department of Education, and have completed the number of years specified in the school system in our high school" are registered in our province and are not subject to the restrictions on application batch conditions.
Regarding the situation of another high scoring candidate, Tan, the Hainan Provincial Examination Bureau stated that Tan and his legal guardian have completed the household registration process in compliance. The student participated in the provincial high school entrance examination from July 25 to 27, 2020, and was normally admitted to the unified enrollment plan of Hainan Middle School. He has studied in Hainan Middle School for three years in his senior high school. The registered residence of the candidate and his guardian has also been in our province for three years, which meets the requirements of college entrance examination registration and is not subject to the batch limit of application.
Some citizens have also pointed out that the number of Hainan's college entrance examination students in 2023 exceeded the number of new high school students admitted in 2020, squeezing the quota for local Hainan candidates to attend universities and raising the admission line for first tier universities.
Regarding this statement, the Hainan Provincial Examination Bureau replied: According to statistics, the total number of high school students admitted to the 2023 college entrance examination in our province has increased compared to the 2020 high school entrance examination. The increase is mainly due to more than 5000 former students and more than 1000 vocational school students. The number of fresh high school graduates has not exceeded the number of new high school students admitted in 2020, and it is not due to the immigration squeeze of the high school entrance examination. For many years, our province has always maintained a high-pressure situation, strictly prevented and cracked down on "college entrance examination immigrants". We have taken multiple measures through big data screening and comparison, class attendance, supervision and reporting, etc., to strictly prevent false enrollment and fraudulent behavior, and strictly implement the public notice system.
