On August 2nd, this incident occurred in MCC Future City, Zhuozhou, Hebei Province. On the evening of the 3rd, Mr. Meng, the person involved, told Jimu News reporters that although he has good water ability, this is his first time swimming in a flood and diving into the water, he can't see anything. He hopes this is his last time swimming in a flood.
Mr. Meng swam towards the gate
Owners dive and open the rescue door
MCC Future City is located on the banks of the Beijuma River. After the flood in Zhuozhou, the community suffered from deep waterlogging and was completely submerged in water. On August 2nd, a video released by the homeowners of the community showed a man wearing a swimming cap climbing from the exterior wall of a residential building to a lower level, then tentatively jumping into the murky flood and swimming towards the entrance of the community opposite the building. At the entrance, he dived into the water multiple times and finally opened the door. Then, he entered the community with a motorboat. The owner of Building 26 of MCC Future City, an unnamed warrior, said in the video that he went diving and exerted all his strength to open the door, which allowed the lifeboat to enter and successfully rescued everyone. Hundreds of thousands of netizens have praised him, calling him a true man.

On the evening of August 3rd, Jimu News contacted Mr. Meng, the owner of the diving door. He told Jimu News reporters that he is from Zhuozhou and works in Beijing. Before the flood, he and his wife were at home with their children in the southern district of Zhongye Future City in Zhuozhou City. On the afternoon of August 1st, the community began to flood. At night, the basement was completely submerged, with half of the first floor submerged. In the late night, the entire first floor was submerged in the water. The next morning, the water level did not drop. Some homeowners saw from a height that rubber boats, motorboats, and other boats were coming to search and rescue nearby. Everyone shouted for help in the community, but the rescue boats could not enter.
Originally, the main entrance to the south of the community was built very high and imposing, but it was usually closed. Pedestrians entered and exited through small doors on both sides, while vehicles entered the basement directly. After the community was surrounded by floods, the rescue boats were relatively wide and could not enter through the small doors on both sides. These rescue boats can only temporarily go to the surrounding communities for rescue operations.
"Seeing everyone anxious, I told my neighbors in the group that if it didn't work out, I would swim over and open the door." Mr. Meng said that at noon that day, he had something to eat to replenish his energy, took off his coat, put on a swimming cap and goggles, climbed from the second floor home to the outer wall, and went down into the water to swim towards the door.
Mr. Meng is opening the door
"The flood was four or five meters deep, and I swam to the entrance because the latch on the door was on the ground. I had to dive underwater to open it," Mr. Meng said. However, the flood was particularly murky, and he couldn't see anything after diving, just like at night. He felt the latch and pulled it out five or six times, but couldn't open it, so he switched to another door and tried several times before pulling the latch open. Then, he forcefully pulled the door open. The motorboat outside the gate has just entered the community. Mr. Meng brought the motorboat to the community and asked the rescue personnel to first rescue the two children in the community. Afterwards, other larger rescue boats gradually entered the community to transfer trapped people. By the afternoon of that day, almost all residents of the community had already been transferred.
This hero is still a veteran

"Actually, this is just a small matter. I didn't expect a neighbor to take pictures of the entire process and post it online." Mr. Meng said that he started learning swimming when he was in his teens and even served in the military. He has good water skills. On the premise of ensuring safety, he also likes to go swimming in the wild on a regular basis, and his swimming cap and goggles are all carried with him. He said that it only took him over 20 minutes to swim over and open the door to return, which is not a big deal for someone who can swim. However, this is his first time swimming in a flood, and there are two trash cans near the entrance of the community, with garbage floating on the water and even feces. Infiltrating into the flood, you can't see anything, and the process of removing and plugging the pin is also quite difficult. "I hope this is my last time swimming in a flood," he said.
Mr. Meng led the motorboat into the community
Mr. Meng said that when he was preparing to go into the water, a child from the opposite building threw a blue lifebuoy at him. "Actually, for people who can swim, this one is not useful. Later, I brought the lifebuoy back," he said
Mr. Meng also introduced that MCC Future Chengnan District only has about 10 buildings, which are still new residential areas, and there are not many homeowners who have already moved in. "Perhaps only one or two hundred people," Mr. Meng said. Not many of the homeowners could swim, so he took the initiative to stand up and swim over to open the door.
On the afternoon of August 2nd, he and his family escaped on a rescue boat belonging to the Falcon Emergency Rescue Team in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. "There are people from Jiangsu and Anhui among the team members, and I am very grateful to them," Mr. Meng said.
Currently, Mr. Meng has returned to Beijing. He suffered significant losses from this flood. He said that before the water rose, he drove his two cars from the basement to the ground and parked them, but he didn't expect the water to rise so high that they were still submerged.

"I live in this community, rescuing everyone and feeling at ease," Mr. Meng said.
