Disrupting global efforts to protect human rights | Worldview, foreign experts and scholars: Western hegemonic global | Countries | Protection
Beijing, June 15th (Xinhua) - "Western countries are attempting to continue promoting hegemonism globally, which undermines the world's efforts to protect human rights and promote human rights governance." On June 15th, Syrian Presidential Special Advisor Busina Shaban pointed out in a speech at the Global Forum on Human Rights Governance.
From June 14th to 15th, the Global Forum on Human Rights Governance was held in Beijing, with over 300 Chinese and foreign guests from nearly 100 countries and international organizations, including United Nations agencies, participating.
Busina Shaban stated that Western countries have problems in protecting human rights and have taken some radical and dangerous measures in an attempt to continue promoting hegemonism globally, which undermines the world's efforts to protect human rights and promote human rights governance.
"The West is in a very dangerous situation as it is waging wars around the world, causing great damage to humanity. These wars directly strike our humanity and make the entire society more vulnerable." Busina Shaban emphasized, "Currently, we need to further and more carefully protect human rights."
Panama's Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, Jonas Cooper, also pointed out that human rights have important value in the liberation process of countries and regions around the world, but some countries regard human rights as a tool that can serve global capitalism. From this perspective, human rights have developed into a discourse for intervening in ideology. When facing complex situations, it is necessary to correct erroneous concepts and develop the concept of human rights to truly guarantee the rights of every individual.
Asraf Ali Kounai, an expert in the field of human rights in Mauritius and an expert of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, expressed appreciation for the organization of the forum. He believes that the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action is an important milestone and a normative document recognized internationally, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation. "On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, we hope to re-examine the global situation, consider and discuss our opportunities and challenges. The holding of this forum is indeed a commendable initiative, providing us with an opportunity to look back and look forward to the future."
"The forum focuses on human rights, and China is a model in this regard... We have been pursuing independence and have seen similar experiences in China. China has opened up an innovative path of cooperation with Africa and is able to firmly respond to the constantly changing times and new responsibilities in global affairs." said Christopher Mutswangwa, member of the Central Political Bureau of the ruling Democratic League of Zimbabwe, Secretary of Press and Publicity, and spokesperson, and former Ambassador to China.
"I have always believed that China's development approach has been very successful. China has integrated the noble concepts of poverty eradication and promoting human rights into its political and development framework."
He said, "We aspire to replicate these achievements and give all countries hope for eradicating poverty and promoting human rights, so that they can succeed in these areas."
