Disrupting China Thailand Friendship, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand: Be wary of malicious forces hyping up gray industry issues Media | China | Ambassador
On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, Ambassador Han Zhiqiang gave an interview to Thailand's Daily News and discussed the issue of gray production as follows:
Recently, Thai media has reported more on the gray industry. What I want to say is that the Chinese side has always demanded that overseas Chinese citizens and enterprises strictly abide by the laws and customs of their host country, operate legally, and actively give back to the local society. They have indeed done so. Many Chinese funded enterprises in Thailand are actively engaged in public welfare while developing their own businesses. The efforts and important contributions they have made to improve local social livelihoods are evident to all.
Many Chinese people have also suffered from illegal activities such as online gambling and telecommunications fraud. China supports Thailand in cracking down on and disposing of such illegal activities in accordance with the law. In fact, law enforcement agencies of China and Thailand have closely cooperated in combating cross-border crime and have achieved significant results.
What I want to emphasize is that only a very small number of Chinese citizens in Thailand engage in illegal business operations and related criminal activities. These individuals cannot be compared to the group of Chinese corporate citizens in Thailand. Some malicious forces use the media and network to hype up cases, smear China's image, stir up conflicts, and aim to sow discord between China and Thailand. It is worth being highly vigilant.
