Discussing issues such as the agreement for the export of agricultural products from the Black Sea port, the Turkish and Russian foreign ministers held a phone call on agricultural products | Russia | ports
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye announced on the 9th local time that Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Feidan had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on the same day to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports.
After the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, the transportation of agricultural products from Ukraine and Russia via Black Sea ports has been hindered. Through the mediation of the United Nations and Türkiye, on July 22, 2022, Ukraine and Russia signed agreements with the United Nations and Türkiye respectively on the resumption of the export of agricultural products from Black Sea ports. Meanwhile, Russia has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations regarding the export of Russian agricultural products.
Since the implementation of the Black Sea Port Agricultural Products Export Agreement, the Russian side has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of the agreement related to Russia, believing that Russian agricultural products and fertilizer exports are still hindered by Western sanctions. Previously, the agreement for the export of agricultural products from the Black Sea port had been extended three times, with the latest extension scheduled to end on the 17th of this month. The Russian side expressed "not optimistic" about the prospect of further extension of the agreement.
