According to a report by KCNA on the 10th, the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea held an expanded meeting on the 9th to discuss further strengthening military readiness in response to the severe political and military situation in the Korean Peninsula region.
The report states that the meeting analyzed military movements that undermine peace and stability in the peninsula region and adopted an "offensive military response plan.". The meeting also discussed and passed resolutions on actively conducting practical training and strengthening combat readiness.
According to reports, Kim Jong un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and State Councilor, emphasized at the meeting the need to increase the means of attacking the enemy while continuing to carry out practical deployment training. He also requested the military industry department to vigorously promote the production of weapons and equipment in accordance with the needs of modern military operations.
According to reports, the meeting also discussed organizational issues, dismissed General Park Soo ri from his position as Chief of General Staff, and appointed Lieutenant General Lee Yong ji as Chief of General Staff.
