The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes to strengthen the protection and inheritance of historical and cultural heritage in urban and rural construction. According to data from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, in the past decade, a total of 6819 villages have been included in the list of traditional village protection in China, forming the world's largest agricultural civilization heritage protection group. Entering June, it is the season for harvesting and listing summer mushrooms. The edible mushroom base in Liulin Village is a bustling scene, with a full and fragrant aroma of shiitake mushrooms. Some villagers are busy harvesting, some are busy sorting, and some are busy loading cars, creating a lively labor scene.

Liulin Village is located at 35 ° N latitude, with a forest coverage rate of 85.1%. It is situated in Miaowan Town in the northern mountainous area of Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, and is the first wild release site for crested ibises north of the Qinling Mountains. The unique climate advantages and abundant water resources have created unique conditions for the development of the shiitake mushroom industry in this area.

Correspondingly, due to the need to maintain the ecological and water environment of the Crested Ibis habitat, as well as objective factors such as shallow soil layers in local farmland and low yields from planting crops in the field. People are more concerned about how to find a balance between economic development and environmental protection, and how to further utilize the mushroom industry to increase the income of villagers and drive rural revitalization.

Yuan Kaikai, the first secretary of the Central Propaganda Department stationed in Liulin Village, stated in an interview with reporters that since the mid-1990s, the Central Propaganda Department has designated Yaozhou District in Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province as a designated county for assistance, and its support for Liulin Village has continued to this day. To embark on the path of rural revitalization in the new era, we must focus on enhancing the well-being of farmers. In recent years, the Central Propaganda Department has further increased its assistance to Liulin Village, with a focus on promoting industrial assistance as a long-term strategy and key measure.

Looking back at the industrial development process that this land has gone through, time flies and there have been tremendous changes in the past and present. In fact, Liulin Village has many years of experience in mushroom cultivation, but in the early days, most of the villagers acted independently and did not form a large-scale mushroom industry, and the yield was low. Many farmers gradually withdrew, while only a few villagers persisted.

Considering that mushroom cultivation does not pollute the environment, and the production of edible mushrooms has the characteristics of short cycle, low investment, fast effectiveness, and high benefits. Therefore, the local government proposed the strategic goal of "building a mushroom town" in April 2018. The mushroom cultivation base in Liulin Village was built during this period.

"At present, we mainly drive collective production and people's income through methods such as' fund custody ',' equity dividends', 'employment for migrant workers', and' borrowing sticks to repay mushrooms'. According to Yuan Kaikai, the industry has radiated and driven 7 towns, 51 villages, and more than 2000 households in the surrounding areas, achieving stable income growth and solving the problem of employment for more than 500 people, with a per capita annual income increase of 15000 yuan.".

According to Yuan Kaikai, currently, Miaowan Mushroom Town has achieved an annual production of 10 million mushroom sticks, 8 million mushroom sticks, 2 million mushroom sticks exported annually, and 3 million bottles of mushroom sauce. It has also developed and launched a series of characteristic products such as "Mushroom for Heaven" mushroom sauce.

And to cultivate the mushroom cultivation industry as the main industry, local villagers have spared no effort.

Old Liu, a villager from Liulin Village, is harvesting shiitake mushrooms. Liu Xiaoping, 63 years old this year, is a general farmer in Fanggou Group of Liulin Village. In his early years, an accident caused him to lose his left hand, but he remained positive and optimistic in the face of life. A few years ago, he started a business selling shiitake mushrooms.

During the process of selling shiitake mushrooms, Old Liu saw the broad prospects of shiitake mushroom cultivation and dreamed of one day building a greenhouse to grow shiitake mushrooms. In 2022, upon learning of the plan to expand the mushroom cultivation base in the village, he was the first to contract 10 greenhouses for mushroom cultivation, fulfilling his dream.

Old Liu not only grows his own mushrooms, but also drives other villagers to increase their income and become wealthy. He couldn't handle the shiitake mushrooms in 10 sheds alone, so he hired 2 male laborers to transport water and 10 left behind women to help pick mushrooms in the village.

At present, after more than a month of hard work, Lao Liu's 10 sheds of shiitake mushrooms have sold for over 100000 yuan, and the villagers he hired have also earned between 3000 and 6000 yuan. Looking at the wages in their hands, the villagers exclaimed happily, "Thanks to Old Liu growing shiitake mushrooms, we have also benefited from it. We can still work and earn money at our doorstep. Thank you to our neighbors!"

Nowadays, the cultivation of shiitake mushrooms is becoming popular in Miaowan Town. Small shiitake mushrooms have long been fragrant and have gradually become an important tool for rural revitalization and an important channel for people to lift themselves out of poverty and increase their income.

How to make positive contributions to promoting high-quality development of local industries by improving quality and efficiency?

Last year, a new shiitake mushroom base covering an area of 50 acres was built in the Hedong group of Liulin Village. 121 simple greenhouses, 43 mushroom cultivation greenhouses, and 78 mushroom production greenhouses were built. In April of this year, all infrastructure of the mushroom base was in place. Currently, 7 villagers have voluntarily contracted for greenhouses, and Liu Xiaoping was the first farmer to sign a planting contract.

The development of mushroom cultivation in Liulin Village has promoted the local economy and also protected the local ecological environment. While the ecological environment continues to improve, the living environment of the villagers has also been greatly improved.

The reporter visited Liulin Village on site and saw that with the support of the Poverty Alleviation Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, the village has also built a "Crested Ibis Stadium" with a theme of beautiful ecology, providing villagers with spacious and comfortable sports venues, and enriching their cultural life.

The digital technology revolution has also brought new changes to local development, with a group of villages represented by Liulin moving from "traditional" to "digital". Sun Jinjun, a temporary cadre of the Central Propaganda Department and Deputy Secretary of the Yaozhou District Committee, believes that digital technology provides strong support for ensuring agricultural modernization and consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation. Yaozhou District also hopes to rely on technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data to accumulate advantages and rich empowerment experience, and expand a new path for rural revitalization and development.
