Did you get these design ideas?, When the architecture of the Universiade meets the traditional cultural sports stadium | Universiade | design
As an old venue with a history of over 20 years, the Chengdu University Gymnasium is now completely new. In this year's Universiade, in order to maximize the use of existing venues while meeting the needs of the competition, and to adhere to the requirements of "simplicity, safety, and excitement", there are 36 renovated venues like this.
From the main sports stadium of the Universiade by Dong'an Lake to the Universiade Village located within Chengdu University, these Universiade buildings have their own unique features, combining ancient Shu civilization, traditional culture, and the spirit of the Universiade, forming a strong temporal and spatial contrast. Next, let's follow the reporter and experience the traditional culture and wisdom in the architecture of the Universiade.
The sun god bird gold jewelry unearthed in Jinsha, Chengdu, embodies the wisdom of ancient Shu people and showcases their superb craftsmanship. In fact, the true national treasure has a diameter of only 12.5 centimeters. At the main stadium of the opening ceremony of the Chengdu Universiade, the designer integrated the design of the Sun Bird into the dome, creating the world's largest Sun Bird.
The Sun God Bird, magnified by 2.7 million times, is not easy to take off from the dome of the main stadium. 12540 pieces of colored glazed glass, each piece needs to generate a unique QR code to accurately locate the installation position during assembly.
Yuan Zhenhua, Deputy Chief Designer of Dong'an Lake Sports Park Project: We also have a Sunbird in the infield, which is designed in combination with our sound-absorbing film. When watching the game inside, the sun and divine birds in the sky can be faintly seen, creating an immersive experience. The worship of the sun by ancient people is actually a pursuit of our dreams today, which is very consistent with the theme of the Universiade.
In the scorching summer, walking into the delegation service center of Dayun Village, one can feel the cool breeze. This is actually a space connected to the outside, and there is no air conditioning. Why is it so cool?
Zhong Peng, Chief Designer of Dayun Village: We have applied the principle of "cold alleys" in this traditional building. In the design process, we combined the terrain and designed a horn mouth with two large ends and a small middle end. One end is facing northeast and the other end is facing south, which happens to be the dominant wind direction in Chengdu, receiving more air. In the area where the air is trapped in the middle, the air flow will be accelerated. In physics, it is called the Venturi effect.
Zhong Peng, Chief Designer of Dayun Village: The spirit of our craftsmen and the inheritance of these traditional cultures in our architecture are actually interpreting and improving the wisdom of the people using scientific principles.
The "ecological air conditioning" designed by ancient Chinese craftsmen has saved a large amount of "environmental protection fees" for Dayun Village, saving about 70000 kWh of electricity per year, which can meet the electricity consumption of 20 households for one year.
Adapting to local conditions, being open and inclusive, Chengdu, which has come from history, applies traditional culture and wisdom to the design of Universiade venues and urban life.
