Did someone fall off the mountain in Qingdao Laoshan Scenic Area? Official response: False! Video | Tourists | Official
On August 18th, a netizen posted a short video claiming that it was their first time encountering someone who climbed or fell from a mountain. The video was positioned as the Taiqing Tourist Area in the Laoshan Scenic Area of Qingdao, sparking heated discussions among netizens. The author added in the comments section when interacting with netizens, "Two women have reached the finish line and fallen, one dragging the other.".
After verification, the author stated in the video that there was false information about tourists falling into the mountain system.
The Culture and Tourism Commission of Laoshan District stated that around 10:20 on August 18th, the Laoshan Tourist Service Center received a call for help from tourists, claiming that their child had fallen and injured under the Mingxia Cave. After on-site inspection, two injured female tourists accidentally fell and got injured on the steps below the Mingxia Cave Taoist Temple after leaving the entrance. A 14-year-old female tourist scraped her leg and injured her teeth, and a 23-year-old female tourist fell on her forehead, which is not what the video author claimed to be "falling off at the finish line.". The staff of the scenic area quickly assisted the injured tourists in taking the 120 bus to the affiliated hospital of Qingdao University School of Medicine for medical treatment. After a doctor's examination, one tourist's eyebrow bone was injured, and the other had a simple scratch, both of which have been treated.
